A lot of things about this are wrong…
The problem with Victoria Beckham seems to be that after all this time, after working in the industry, she doesn’t have a sense of identity or at least, a self awareness to realize that if you are making the brand about you, make products and communicate on it with the idea people have of you.
Her approach is very limited. Her RTW is about the brands she likes and ultimately, she must be a Tom Ford customer…And her beauty is channeling that.
‘You are posh spice, you are a mother, an entrepreneur…Why are you playing the sex card with Steven Klein?
She should have hired Glen Luchford or even David Sims.
Her line is more minimalist, approachable working women we would say. Her Make-up line must be more L’Oreal than Estée Lauder.
She is not a beauty icon…So why not hire someone that will have a strong voice to represent your brand. Obviously, Eva Longoria can’t but she has friends…
While her life and her lifestyle are still aspirational to some, I don’t think people connects enough with her to have her as a credible face for her brand.
I think you can find the balance between being the best ambassador for your brand and not be the face of everything, even more when you want to distance yourself from the « celebrity brand » conversation.
