Vogue France May 2025 : Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls & Lara Stone by Mario Sorrenti

I've never been a fan of covers with models wearing sunglasses or not looking at the camera, the cast is amazing. I'd love to see the 6 as covers. But I'm happy to see Lara back and Joan getting the cover.

I think Claire and Alastair are copying all of Alt's previous work. I feel like every cover and editorial is a new version of something she did, but a worse, lifeless version.

What a disappointment this has been... I approached the thread title with caution, fully aware that I'm likely to be let down and still - it's worse than I'd imagined. Atrocious photography by Sorrenti, with only several mildly redeeming photographs in the spread. Such a pity, considering the cast. It should be studied how he declined from such an inspiring photographer with a fascinating portfolio to whatever this is. But I guess that lately, all of the greats are following that same path. This would've been an event 10 years ago, but now it's something I'll forget within a day - and frankly, I do not wish to see any of these images again.

I don’t get why people act like covers are trophies these models deserve just for… being a model.

Seeing Lara, Natasha and Joan brought me back good memories of the last collections editorial under Carine in the february 2011 issue when they were there, i hope Claire would bring back that type of editorial for February/August now that it seems she wants to bring back the old VP.

The angle is not good. Mario can do better than this.
Honestly, not sure there is much of a demand for either of the cover girls, though they are iconic in their careers, I don't really understand the timing of this. The covers look like look book images, so there's that.

Happy for them; but gotta agree with @Kimy Jo - I also hate it.

I have to be realistic - I could whinge all I like about this magazine, but the moment they put Frankie Rayder on the cover, I'll be considering getting an issue. They just haven't got me yet with the right form of nostalgia that lets me overlook everything else.

It's a bit like model bingo, you just have to wait for your favourite name to be called up for the cover.

So that's my personal cover prediction: Frankie Rayder on their cover at some point in 2025. Half a point if she only appears inside. I don't know what points I'd give if they use her sister instead. No bonus points for both sisters together, because I had my fill of those types of editorials at the time.

^^^ I don’t mind Claire’s Vogue. It’s nowhere close in the league of Carine’s and Emmanuelle’s of course. But we’re not in better days anymore, and even with the blatant tributes to/ripoffs of Helmut Newton/Guy Bourdin/Jean Paul Goude, she’s still bringing back a French identity and smoulder. The AD is doing a lot of heavylifting because even Romeo Beckham, who’s inherited his mum’s dead-in-the-eyes stare and possesses all the charisma of a dead catfish, the story is still solid. And that's worthy praise.

I don’t know if Romeo Beckham is necessary but

“goddess energy” is a little corny girl bossy for me… and some of the shots give sophisticated Craigslist escort but I appreciate Claire is trying and probably has a budget of nothing.

The sunglasses and some of the angles are throwing me off a bit and I love a French Vogue lingerie editorial but I think it is lacking sensuality.

I'm not buying the hope people have for this magazine under Claire, it's like how a seventeen year old would design Vogue Paris in 2014.
