Look like the Gigi hate train is strong in this thread. Its so petty its unbelievable. I can appreciate what they were trying to do here, and I actually love the cover.

Its really insane how such a silly and unimportant video all the sudden explodes into a bunch of ridiculous tirades accusing her of being racist. The video of which wasn't even racist to begin with. I can equate this situation with how often video games get review bombed by Chinese gamers on steam for making simple translation errors.

As for what Au said. Nothing is disgusting about it.

If this is the best they can conjure— and with Nick Knight, then they’re a creatively-weak team at Vogue HK off the gate. They will quickly devolve into a Tatler-type publication, flogging HK celebrities in their designer fortresses, in no time.

“Creativity” and “vision” in this industry is absolutely as low as it can possibly be ATM. And scanning the current high-profile end of fashion publications, we’re still smacked deep in the midst of mediocrity, with pseudo-social/political gimmicks compensating for the lack of real creative “vision”. Don’t expect Vogue HK to be anything resembling the remotest of that creative saviour at any time, as HK has a tradition of following— not leading. There’s potential, of course— much like Vogue Arabia possessed at its initial launch and quickly descend into banal mediocrity. The need to appease and even placate the masses and the advertisers will have this publication looking like a glorified catalogue for Lane Crawford shot by Nick Knight, before the year is over.

The reality of casting Gigi for the inaugural issue is so damning of just how commercial sensibility is the standard for them, so why expect anything more…??? Name brand is all they care about— because name brand is what most of their readers only care about. Nothing against Gigi, but her brand is as saturated at this point as you can get, and that covershot does no favor for her— or Nick. (And I’m in no way finding any offence in Gigi’s so-called “racist” act when she harmlessly mimicked the caricature on a cookie— it’s a cookie she’s playfully mimicking, not the Chinese server. Unless there’s more to her “offence", I’m more offended that there are people so thin-skinned and are apparently set on faux perma-outrage mode at the drop of a pin, they can’t tell the difference— or simply don’t care, between actual, hurtful racist acts and some harmless, good-nature tomfoolery from a sheltered socialite/model…)

From what I’ve been reading on Instagram, the magazine was RECALLED.

Most of the people posting their copy has the FEI FEI cover. However, those who got the issue inside a press package/box has the Gigi and Fei Fei cover.

but one funny thing, they delete Gigi's solo cover, but why they still kept another cover of her on ins, if u wanna cut, do it clean, not sure what the HK office is trying to suggest here. another failure.

They better hope Fei Fei's OG sell like hotcakes, which I doubt. First issue in and you're already in the red.
