Vogue India October 2007 ( Premier Issue ) by Patrick Demarchelier

I think it may have been better if they had put Deepika Padukone on the cover since she's a very well known model in india and has her first bollywood release in a few weeks

or maybe even katrina kaif?

 My reaction to this cover was just , it looks REALLY bad and tacky. Eurgh, I was expecting soooo much! so airbrushed...

But I must say, the women in India will probably like this, it fits perfectly but I just don't like it..

I'm definetely not buying this...

i don't see why they felt the need to put gemma on this cover. women in south asia are still dealing with issues regarding skin lightening and the "white" ideal look. how are they supposed to embrace their looks when they see things like this?

gemma on the cover of vogue china kind of worked because she had similar features to the models, but not here.

anyway, the cover was not designed well. the font/picture, etc are tacky.

Hi guys,

Is there any body who can find me this issue, i really love it ! Or maybe we can trade or something thank you so much allready

local supermodels? LOL,LOL and more LOL X 10000

the term "supermodel" is a joke these days, I can't stop laughing

yes Joe, it's become completely overused by the world media, it seems as though almost anybody can qualify as a supermodel these days!:innocent:

btw I was wondering if there's a TV show called "India's Next Supermodel" ?

But I do like the airbrushed glam cover, it's so very Bollywood!

Is it absolutely necessary that a Caucasian model grace the cover of Asian magazines especially on pivotal issues like the premiere?

target audience...

Cover looks like nothing special, but keep in mind: India is a huge country and the magazine will sell anyways...
Every country gets the Vogue it deserves.

I'm slightly confused as to why Gemma Ward is on the cover

...

Why Gemma is on cover? Again: india is a huge country - big market. It's Fashion "industry" - they play global. Gemma might be very famous in the rest of the world. But in India - there is a buck to earn; )...

i wish they only used the 2 girls on the inner cover, the ones on the right and left.

well i should think that if one os among the top models in a certain country then the press has a right to refer top them as a local supermodel

I think the women either side of Gemma on the cover are way more beautiful than her

the good thing about this is that it signifies the improvement india's economical state (same as in china) and it also shows that india is nowadays perhaps more open to globalization and the worldly popular culture of today(hence gemma on the cover) though i too would prefer to see the magazine embrace indian culture and put someone like aishwarya on the cover. it's great that such a cultural phenomenon as vogue magazine has now found it's way to india is in general, a good thing. luckily we can see trough of what just seems to be a so-so magazine cover and see what this really symbolizes...

Blonde, blue eyed, ivory skinned Gemma doesn't need to be on the FIRST ever cover of Vogue India--and certainly doesn't need to be in the middle. If they wanted it to reflect an international flare--where's "the black model" (that's short hand for "global" in some many contexts)? Vogue prolly wanted to make the statement that this is real fashion and international/real = white. LOL.

I am curious what insider Indian fashion folks think of this cover.
If Gemma Ward will sell covers than maybe that's Vogue India's only concern. ...what a pity.

wow that's a big step
i'm really excited to read/know more about indian designers

is gemma the vogue ambassador, and the last girl is stunning se looks like a particular brazilian model...(i just can't remember who)

wait...oct issue???

why didn't they begin with sep issue???:judge::judge:
