Vogue India October 2007 ( Premier Issue ) by Patrick Demarchelier

Does anyone have this yet? I'd love to know what the eds/ads are like inside.

I am supremely disappointed with this cover. It is so bland and stark, it hardly represents how vibrant India actually is... in my opinion there is hardly anything Indian (well besides the girls chosen, minus Gemma of course) about the cover. I feel the cover might have been more successful, or at least better to look at, if they had dressed the girls in clothes by an Indian designer.
Additionally I wish they would have used Ujjwala Raut instead of an Preity Zinta...she really look terrible.
Personally, I don’t really mind that Gemma Ward is smack in the middle of the cover, but it would have been fun to see her in an Indian designer’s clothes.

Overall - an indian woman who hasnt seen British vogue would love it. one who has wont find Vogue India terribly original. Having said that, you guys may say theres too much imported content. But as an indian woman, i DO want imported content. whats the point of paying a hundred bucks for Vogue when all i get is local fashion?! So i definately look forward to Vogue India. Only complaint - no more bollywood stuff. its understandable for the first issue, but please go back to fashion and models.

Thanks so much for the review! I look forward to seeing the editorials!

ETA: I thought Chanel Iman had an editorial in the premier issue aswell?

i dont know about Sasha's reprint coz i dont get Italian vogue, but Gemma's isnt the one featured in the Sept issue of British vogue.

Well that's promising then...here's the link to Sasha's VI edit...if you wouldn't mind taking a look & letting us know.

Can't wait to see Gemma in Bollywood Dreams! Thank you so much MarryMeTomFord

I think it's a slap in the face to Indian women out there to put a model on the cover that is the antithesis of their standard of beauty. I can understand Gemma on the cover of Vogue China because she has some "Asian" features but this is just bizarre. I could sort of see a British model because of their ties with India but not Gemma. Why not put Aishraiya Rai in haute couture, not Elie Saab, on the cover?

Thanks for the entire review! It sounds like it's alot and some are quite promising...

Sasha by Paolo Roversi again? :woot:
Can't wait.

Thanks for the review
