^^^ LOL This is exactly the reason why I’d wish editors have the balls to just cast an all-White cast. Because there are people that will never be satisfied until Black models are on the cover of every single issue of Vogues globally 12-month a year. And likely even then, they’ll complain that the cast still isn't dark-skinned enough— or that they’re not big enough… (BTW, VP cast 2 dark-skin Black models for the prestigious September issue— not that was too long ago.)

Looking at the shoot, it’s clear Shanelle wasn’t shot with the rest of the cast, and added in later, hence her absence from the cover.

They’re opening themselves up for criticism when they have seven models in the editorial, and one is conveniently left out of the cover.

I’d rather they just not include Shanelle in the editorial or give her an OG ed. Don't quite see how her shots work in with the group one anyway.

which ones? Didn't Rianne have 4 OG covers for that issue?

^^^ Yes, they absolutely are. We can’t assume exactly why Shanelle was added post-group shoot: Scheduling, last-minute creative addition (she’s very Grace Jones-looking for the illustrations)—or simply they realized that there would be criticism that a dark-skinned Black model isn’t included alongside Joan… And that’s the brand of can of worms they open themselves up to when they go with the “diversity and inclusivity” template: Someone will always feel left out. And if Shanelle’s presence were left out, there would still be criticism… They’re simply damned if they do/don’t.

It would be so nice if HF could just go back to casting the right look for the right story-- even if that means, god forbid, an all-White cast. And I suppose that’s why strong, solid fashion stories are so few and far between these days: It’s just an endless marathon of “diversity and Inclusivity” banal, generic lookbook shoots so as not to offend anyone/any group.
