Any suggestions on how to update sort-of-played-out items like capri pants/cropped pants for Spring? I actually noticed more cropped styles on the runway this year, so maybe it's not totally dead (and I actually don't really care either way), but I'm thinking if wear them with Statement Shoes and an interesting blouse/top that the ensemble will look current and appealing.

Also, I just dug out an old favorite blouse of mine - a red sheer silk peasant-style blouse that I wore often in 2002 - 2005. I do think it transcends the usual boho chic look that was so popular a few years ago, and can be translated into a more current romantic/neo-bohemian piece if I pair it with the right bottoms & shoes. Ideas?

^someone actually asked about those shoes not long ago. It was either in this thread or the "pairing shoes with outfits" thread in the Shoes forum. The best suggestion was to wear it with grey, and I think it's a great way to showcase the yellow without appearing too cartoonish (unless you are going for a pop art or graphic look, in which case you can pretty much wear them with everything). I also think navy blue would be a great primary choice of color to play with.

I have a few vintage hats (felt pillbox & netted pillbox) that I'd love to able to wear in the daytime but am not quite sure what to pair them with so they look contemporary and edgy rather than dated and frumpy. I'm a university student if this helps. Any ideas would be appreciated!!

alright. i recently chopped off my blonde locks in a fit of sadness and traded them in for a short red pixie cut. i now am at a loss for what to wear with my bold hair. normally, i opt for classic styles (and usually, i have my hair in clean cuts like bobbed)... i just feel as if i look too sassy, and i most definitely feel out of sorts about my style ever since i got my hair chopped. any ideas on clothing that could make this style more classy?
best.

p.s. my boyfriend made a comment that i resemble carol burnett and now i am extremely insecure about my new hair.

The cut and color looks great on you (and nothing like Carol Burnett )! You should definitely play around with different collar styles to accentuate your neck and face more. Or go for a beatnik look - skinny pants, simple tee, ballet flats. And since your hair is "boyish", you can counter that w/very feminine dresses. Or play up the boyish look and go very "hard" - motorcycle boots, studs on accessories, etc. But always make sure to throw in a girlish element to the mix so you don't look too "butch" - a girly skirt w/the motorcycle boots, very soft make-up colors, a bright red or pink lip color, etc.

I would also look at old Mia Farrow pics (when she had the pixie cut), Kate Moss when she had short hair, and Audrey Hepburn for some style insipration.
You're so pretty, anything willl work on you. ^_^

what kind of outfit do you were with these...?..

Definitely grey and blue would work. Also burgundy looks fantastic against yellow as does purple (either in dress form or tights). And a mossy green would work, as well. I love the combo of grey, burgundy, and yellow.

How do you wear black patent oxford high-heeled pumps? I bought a pair by Tahari and I'm thinking if I should return. Will this work with short minidresses/short skirts with opaques?

I don't really wear dress pants, office wear etc

I think they would look great with short dresses & skirts! That's the beauty of Oxford heels.

I got this dress for an upcoming trip. It's not my style on a normal day but I wanted something fun and flirty for going out. The problem being that I need to wear a bra so I have to wear something under it or over it.

Also what about the legs? The weather is iffy, probably about 70.
Help. I have no ideas because I'm usually far more conservative than this.

Why don't you just go for a strapless/convertible bra like this? You'll get so much use from it not just with this dress. I dont know how warm 70 is though, so can't help you there, sorry.

Can a pair of black oxford pumps (kinda shiny leather but not patent) work with black funnel neck and houndstooth wool mini and tights? I'm tired of pairing with knee high boots.

I would wear it either with a blazer and tights or put something under the dress, like a cute girly shirt.

Yeah! I think that sounds really cute, go for it. Boots or pumps sounds like a really good outfit.
