One really needs some fited clothes to wear this
some skinny jeans /or leather leggings:wink:/ with a long T-shirt
and platform shoes and big bag to balance it.
I would wear it with a belt if it is long enough.

carriefever,
I always have problems on what to wear with red - as muxh as I love it I always avoided for that reason - hate how it looks with black shoes and bag too much - hate how it looks with white... I love it with animal print -but not for this suit.
so I think nude is the best for shoes and a red clutch - from NAP

I think the Chloe jacket would be good with a black highwaisted skirt that fits closely through the hips ... pencil or possibly godet.

I'm going to a birthday (not so formal) and i'm trying to avoid the boring black and white suit look so i'm basing my suit around this tie ?

I tried to find a matching handkerchief but that proved hard so yes any idea how to wear this with a suit for something thats a little different.

I love suits and ties and the whole shebang, but if it's not such a formal party, I don't think a tie is necessary. In my experience, most guys will avoid ties like the plague. True-life overheard words: "Do I really have to wear a tie at my own wedding?"

I suggest doing a search for Neofinitia's posts on the "What are you wearing" thread; he oftens makes a suit and tie look casual through offbeat color coordination and accessories. My favorite touch is a frog brooch he once wore on the neck of his tie.

I just bought this 3.1 Phillip Lim skirt:

(source: netaporter.com )

I'm on the taller side so it's a few inches above the knees. Other than my beloved oversized grey tshirt combo, how else can I wear this skirt to dress it down - anything to make it to look less corporate?

^So jealous of your new purchase! Are the ruffles in the front or back? The following image came to mind; it's not casual, but it's also not corporate. From the brilliant Agathe's now defunct blog www.stylebytes.net

^The embellished skirt is paired down with a simple top and opaque tights (always good for a casual effect) and an elongating necklace. I prefer pencil skirts with heels, but since you are tall and it hits above the knees, you can totally pull off flats/sandals for a more casual look. A similar feel to the oversize gray tshirt is a loose white tanktop, tucked in. And I've always loved pairing fancy black skirts/dresses with denim jackets. Many people on TFS loathe this, but I think it's such a cute look.

Thank you! The ruffles are actually at the front, but now I'm curious to see how it'll look like when worn back to front :P I actually always find it so hard to find nice loose white tanks! My usual denim jacket is back home (I'm travelling right now), I love wearing it too with dressier pieces so will definitely try that combination out. Thanks  And good pic choice too.

Your welcome. I know what you mean about loose white tanks; it's a shame, as it's a really nice item to have around. I especially can't stand it when the armholes are so gaping, the entire bra is visible.

Rumi of fashiontoast.com suggested stretching out a men's Hanes white undershirt. I tried that, and I must say the stretched out fabric photographs much better than it looks in real life. Do let me know if you ever locate a good one.

I've bought this shirt ....
on a crush .............
on sale .....

agnesb

but now that i'm back home, i don't know what to wear with it ........
i think it needn't at all something too bright or i'll look total out-of-context or promnight or NYE 2010
ouch ....

but i don't want to wear it too "boring" because it would take off the magic of it ...... don't you think ?

what could I wear ? i thought a pullover would be nice but what colour ? and what collar ? and if i want to wear it with nothing covering it ? a blazer would be nice ? i don't know ....

or tell me if i've done the wrong choice with this item .....
:lol::lol:

This is more of a what shoes and jacket to wear it with. I've never worn this before (I have had it over a year and it still has the tags in,shameful really. But 2009 is the year where I wear the clothes I already have )It stops just at my ankles without shoes so any heels I do wear will be slightly visible and I don't know what style to go for? And a good cover up?

P1192323.jpg

(sorry it's a poor photo)

^ So I'd pick up the color of the sequins in the shoes--is that pewter? And perhaps a pashmina--black or silver grey? Perhaps with a metallic sheen ...

what about black - platform pumps, clutch - from NAP and black mink cape /only 99$ from e-bay/

Maybe a short, a-line 60s-style jacket?

I would wear that long dress with a leather jacket, as a more "casual" outfit. And some chunky metallic bangles.
