What can I wear it with? (December 2003 - March 2010)

Dumbfairy, that dress is so reminiscent of Sophia Kokosalaki's spring '09 collection. Here is some style inspiration for playing up an Egyptian theme:

Matching cuffs on each arm, sleek eyeliner and hair

Yellow-toned suede or velour jacket to soften the shiny sequins, or slightly glimmery black jacket to quietly match the sequins. I would go for a jacket with a rounded neckline that mimics the shape of the dress' neckline.

Nude heels or black sculptural heels (which are both very on-trend).

I adored Kokosalaki's use of light blue with black and gold. It's completely unexpected and beautiful. So for a unique look, you could try a light blue jacket, handbag, or shoes.

What shoes, bag, and something over can I wear with that dress - Pucci from Browns

aris I wouldn't know for sure unless I Could see it infront of me but off hand I'm really thinking a quilted chain bag would go well

aris, that dress is lovely!!!
and it is very simple, so you can wear any kind of heels, and some lovely long thin chain around your neck, bag, well i think veggie4life gave you a good advice...

thank you so much for your help m.j. and veggie4life
but what color would you wear? would look too cheesy if I wear it with some wine colored shoes like CL I have, and then again what color bag with this shoes - I have problem with too much color:blush:

I can't see the picture of the dress, aris

PS Nevah mind, now it showed up ... what is the large block of dark color, is that black or navy? If you don't want to do color, I would pick that up in the shoes, whatever it is.

Hi! I received this Marc by MJ tweed-like jacket in this pink color. ^_^ I'm wondering what I should pair with it for a more current look and to avoid looking like a stiff, prim lady. That or cotton candy (probably more concerned about that one). Thanks in advance!

Pink plaid can take on an edgy, punk side. Black leather or pvc, studs, smoky eyes, piecey hair...and pink plaid.:woot:

You could wear the jacket as you would a button-down shirt, tucked into a high-waisted skirt or trousers; make sure they're roomy, so the jacket fabric doesn't create a pouch at your waist. Roll or push up the sleeves, and add a wide belt. Like this:

If tough is not your thing, you could wear the jacket as an accent piece with an otherwise subdued, quiet outfit. Throw a large shawl over the jacket like a cape, so its vibrancy only peeks out. If the outfit is still too prim for you, play with different textures or even patterns (lace and leopard print, anyone?:innocent:), but always in a muted color family. The girl below inspired this idea:

aris, I like your idea of throwing off the ladylike air with bold, chunky shoes ...

PS What about a skirt with a ruffle effect?

:(The pictures I scan never seem to appear lately. That advice doesn't really make sense without the picture. Is it possible for a mod to minimize the space, please? It's a pity for there to be so much empty space.

^ In my view, there's no empty space ... I can see the first two pix, and then a red X. Have you tried bringing your scan in as an attachment? If you want to PM it to me, I can fix the original post ... (I forget if you can attach graphics to a PM ) Alternatively, you can attach below & I can bring the contents of your original post forward. (Apply to be a mod & you can fix these things yourself )

Thanks, Ta-ta, I'll keep that in mind for future reference. Strangely, I can see all three images now. There may have been something wrong with my connection.

Thanks everyone for your advice ^_^ I think I'm going to bring out the colour of the sequins in the shoes, and try out all of the ideas for the cover up. I'll post pics when I end up wearing it to the ball

Thanks for everyone's suggestions about how to rock the pink plaid jacket!
@ aris - not sure if I'm brave enough to rock those combinations yet! :P
@ GasolineRainbow - awesome ideas, will have to try the layering look as well.

would that be too much color coordinating? or too much volume? the skirt is pretty big around the hips, and the cardi is pretty long, the blouse will be tucked in the skirt.
which bag do you preffer?
pollyanna - YSL - blouse, skirt, shoes, cardi
mytheresa MJ bag
and my picture - chanel bag

^ Yes, I don't care for the long sweater ... I think you want to show the pretty shape of the skirt. Bolero, perhaps? I think the Chanel bag ... To me the Marc Jacobs/YSL moods clash ...

^I'd wear them with an oversized sweater and nights! Black swear, black tights, a gold necklace, oversized glasses. Lots of bangles/bracelets or a leather cuff.
