What can I wear it with? (December 2003 - March 2010)

Okay I have my red vintage mexican embroidered dress (which I posted in yay or nay and shopaholics) but my question is what could i wear over top as a cardi color on cooler days? Or a shirt color underneath? I have neutral colored sandals/thongs for shoes and will prob. just end up using some sort of rope as a belt but it's still slightly chilly out and I want to wear this dress! Any thoughts?

As far as I remember the dress, I think a sunny yellow cardigan would look cute, or maybe a simple white t shirt underneath like on the miu miu runwau.

Hi everyone, I hope you can help me in finding what I can wear with a new top I bought this weekend.I would post a pic but I can't find my digicam so I'll have to describe it. It's a navy chiffon short sleeved blouse with white polka dots and a bow that ties at the centre of the chest. There's a picture of it in the newest UK Vogue supplement-The Best For Less, page 45, from Primark(:ninja: I love my bargains!:D )

I can only think of wearing it with either a white pencil skirt or white trousers but I don't know what shoes to wear if I do, plus I'm a little scared to wear white especially to work-I am always spilling drink, food on my lap and unless you don't sit on the tube by the end of the day you look like Little Miss Grubby. So if you could please suggest some alternatives I would really appreciate it, including shoes. Thanks :flower:

Well, i think the white pants or skirt would look good- if you can deal with the inconvienience/ irritation:doh: :p

I love chocolate brown with white or navy- regardless of any nonsense about "no brown with navy" I think it warms it up a bit, and I like the contrast

If you really dont want to wear white , you might try khaki, and then a white bag, to pick up the polka dots. Brown shoes and belt then

Thanks stilettogirl!I had thought of brown before but wasn't sure but now you have suggested it, I'm glad you have.I have a brown pleated skirt from GAP, but I'm thinking either brown trousers or maybe a brown pencil skirt?? I'm also liking the idea of the khaki skirt teamed with the white bag, i's also more summery. Right well I'm off on a shopping mission this weekend for sure!

Thanks again for your help :flower:

I have this dirty-pink dress, and I'm wondering how I can make it "simple" so I can wear it as a daily outfit? I use to wear big tees over dresses if I want the dress to look "easy" and daily-ish, but if I do it with this dress it doesn't work so well, I only get this tutu-feeling.

Can I wear it with a tee under? I imagine it worn in summer with a tee under and some flats, BUT I don't think I would dare, 'cause it's so mini. I  mini dresses, as long as I wear them with stockings or leggings. But I think it would be weird to wear it with stockings/leggings in a daily-outfit. Any ideas?

Thanks for the thought GG. I ended up just wearing it out like a big mumu

ivypixie, that dress is great! :woot: Lots of potential. Definately wear leggins with it. Grey or white would look great if you dare to risk it. I would also wear a white tee under (not with white leggings mind you, just throwing out thoughts) or a white wifebeater/raceback tank. You could always wearing leggings (black, whichever color you wish really) with a cute cardi or with a wrap top if you are in a ballet sort of mood :flower:

^ agree on the cardi ^_^

ivypixie : wear it with a cropped cardigan to give it a slightly more casual look. :flower:

I kind of like these shoes from saks- but I'm not sure what to wear them with. I think menswear type pants would look good, and defenitly with a pantsuit for a very 70's YSL "Smoking" look.

but I was wondering about skirts? I was thinking maybe opaque brown tights and a kind of knee length skirt, but I'm not sure if that would work?

sugesstions?

(Ps- if you hate the shoes, don't tell me- & I'm sure some people will)

Stilleto, the first thing I thought of was the second options with the tights and skirt, I think that would be really cute!

I've seen leggings around this site so could someone give me some hints on wearing them, please? I thought they may be good to wear with mini skirts ..maybe??? and what kind of shoes? Any suggestions would be great!

I'm not as fond of tights as everyone here seems to be- but I like them with a miniskirt and Flat knee boots, for a very Mod vibe

-and thanks guessgirl

Meg, you are a genius! I read your tips yesterday, and today I ran to the store to buy a white wife beater (surprisingly I did not have something simple as that in my wardrobe  ). Thank you for that brilliant idea, I can't wait to use this outfit. The other ideas is also great, and thanks to you too Baizilla! :flower: Karma!

I bought a dress very similar to this one from Neiman Marcus yesterday. The thing is, it looks a bit too dressy (the silk?) to wear during the day. Any ideas of how to dress it down?

^ Exactly ^_^

And in the winter, I'll throw a cashmere sweater over dresses possibly with a belt & pair with boots :flower:

Shoegal - you should check out What are you wearing today?... lots of inspiration there from our very own stylish members :woot:

that's a lovely look. I especially like the contrast of a kind of big shunky cardigan beltd at the waist (open) over a delicate dress like that- and with some knee boots- Divine!

I'm trying to decide what to wear under my gown (graduation gown:doh: ) for my graduation next saturday:unsure: It's a blue.. more on the navy side than royal. I was thinking maybe white knee length skirt... not sure though. And what kind of heels would look good? I know I can come up with something pretty but any tips/ideas would be great:flower:

I think a white flirty knee lengh dress would be really good- something lacey even- depending on the weather- and I'd do heel sandals- I like chocolate with white/ navy. I think black would be , white would be too "matchy/ Wedding", and metallic would be too "evening"- I'd go with slingbacks of some kind- or slides- but probably slingbacks

something like this stuff

JCrew dress
Banana Republic Shoes

That's a really nice idea for the dress! I like the top shoes posted the best..both are nice.

Congratulations on your graduation Bonchic!!!!:smartass:
