What can I wear it with? (December 2003 - March 2010)

clavdia...
i would say that the boots are too heavy for such a light and puffy skirt....
i would go with some sort of flat...
an add a second layer up top...you need just a bit more volume on top for balance imo...just a bit though...so some sort of cardi and belt maybe...?
maybe a cardi and scarf?...

ps-you have great legs!!...;)

on another note...
i am think about trying the high heel granny boots with the blue jkt and skt...

clavdia, I agree about the flats ... I know this would be a serious shopping challenge, but in my mind's eye I can see the skirt with tights that "match" ... :p But in any case, I would lighten the whole look up so the skirt doesn't stand out from the outfit quite so much ... but I think it looks good, and muscular calves go perfectly with ballet flats as ballet is great for building muscle ;)

puffball skirt???

I don't think my legs are thin enough to rock this, but its H&M, thus cheap, and so tantalizing.

I tried it with opaque black tights knee high suede boots, puffsleeve shirt:

I'm thinking...lose the boots, go for flats...but I'm worried b/c I always think I have ginormous calves.

Ideas???

I only see that working with all beige... pointy rich beige heels to balance out the roundness and maybe a beige fine sweater w/slightly belled sleeves?

Thanks for all the help guys!

This is what I ended up wearing...(repost from "What are you wearing today")

Would this work?.. i'm having trouble with finding out how to tone down a pink turtleneck ^_^

How.jpg

I would NOT wear pink with brown. Different colored jacket and I'd say you're okay.

^ thanks.. i thought something was wrong, but couldn't really put my finger on it what...

OK guys, how bout this:

Vintage, I felt some weird draw to it, I think because I love the sleeves and the unique shape. I put this belt with it cause I felt it needed something, but how would you accessorize? Also, what shoes?

It spills just to the floor (now that I re-hemmed it)

bronze accessories !
the belt is a gd start . .

i'm not sure abt the black furry stuff on the sleeves . .
but i love the shape of the slvs :woot:

clavdia.....do you have a pair of flat sandals that are a similar bronze/brown color to the belt...??....
i'm envisioning something with that grecian goddess feel to them.....i have a silver pair with a 'ring' that wraps around the toe and then braided detailing....sort of grecian/moroccan.....
that appeals to me....
though i know its not really appropriate for this colder weather.....

i dont even think you need accessories....
the detail of the belt and the sleeves is lovely on its own....
maybe a simple bracelet...
but other than that i think its great as is....

could we see the bottom of the dress...??...
might help with the shoes question....

you look great....

soft, you've got so many ideas but here is mine...

I don't like the suit top+bottom together. too Florida 50 something lady look (sorry...there is a lady in our Florida office wearing something like that) But I was amazed by how you change the entire look by the top...the only thing I don't like is the tights...they are too dark and heavy...I hate tights and I wonder why you have to wear tights...I just feel that you need something funky to wear it in a softgrey way:D

bubble skirt...again, don't wear black opaque tights with it. we need a little skin and air :D I think what you end up wearing is great. that tights are very fresh and showed your skin.

just my personal opinion:D

oh wow! and it was my 1,000th post on tfs!

that worked well....
i love how you wear swiss dot hose...
i haven't worn them for years...but i was ADDICTED to them in the eighties...
when i was also sporting pouf skirts like that one...
^_^...

the scarf and pin are a nice touch...
a bit different than what i am used to seeing you in...
but that's a good thing...:p...

the other one is harder...
i like the dress and the belt...
i am tempted to put it together with a dressy high heel black leather boot...
because the fur makes it heavy for me and a boot would ground the whole thing...make it sexy and rock n roll-(like the belt)...
of course a strappy bronze metallic sandal could always work as well...
what else have you got in your closet???...

:flower:

thank you for taking the time to do that caffeine...:flower:

but we're going to have to agree to disagree on the hosiery...
because i ADORE tights and hosiery of all kinds and have a HUGE collection which i wear every chance i get...:p...
it is a most underated accessory that can inject real style and personality into an outfit if used effectively...

it can be quite a challenge to come up with the right hosiery...'
but once you do...it makes a world of difference...imo...
...

**anyway...i will probably wear this with boots somehow in the end...
and the tights won't look so heavy then...;)

that is ...if i wear it at all.........
i'm thinking if it's this hard to figure out that i should probably just skip it, ya know???......
it's not like i don't have anything else to wear.........

i should show you guys the skirt that really goes with it...
:innocent:...

You're so good with scarves, clavdia ... ^_^ :flower:

Thanks

I love them b/c they add instant chic. Especially in America where juicy track suits and muffin-top jeans are STILL an epidemic.

In response to everyone's awesome suggestions...

I do have a bronze grecian-esque sandal, but I think I correctly retired it for the year. I also have greenish-bronze beaded flats (too green though I think) and burnished gold pointy flats (the only thing I think could actually work).
softgrey, I agree with you about the boots...but it's hard because I only have flat boots and one pair of heeled more "hardcore" boots. I was thinking about victorian laceups or button detail ones, but I am not sure how much use I'd get out of them.

Were you thinking of something like this?:

(gucci website)

I don't have a pic of the bottom of the dress right now...I'll try to take one tonight.

I might need to go shoe shopping...

^ Clavdia, I have Victorian style boots that I've had for years, and I've gotten tons of use from them, esp recently (as in previous 2 seasons). Sometimes I've gone a whole season without touching them, but I always come back to them. :flower:

OK, you gotta help me ^_^

I bought this lovely pleated skirt some weeks ago. It's dark blue, darker than it seems on the picture. It's kind of A-shaped and it's a bit low rise. I'm thinking of wearing it to an upcoming party at my job. I want to wear a dark top/blouse/etc., but it must not be too boring. I'm thinking of some gold stillettoes or something like that, but... what do you think? It should be party-ish :p

I have a really pretty thin strapped dress, but whenever I wear it I always feel so sl*tty because a lot of flesh around the chest and arm region is exposed :( Anyone have any good suggestions to solve the problem? P.S. I've already tried it with a short sleeved blouse and a long sleeved bloused on underneath, but it just looked naff.....
