Hello! I have been a blogger for over a year now, and I recently got an invite to my first showroom press day with a VERY well known NYC showroom. I'm only 15, and I really don't know what to expect. I made an appointment with them this week, but I really don't know what to expect when I get there. I would love to hear your experiences visiting designer showrooms. Thank you!

Welcome to the Fashion Spot! Congratulations on your invitation! I'm sure they only invited bloggers who they think have influence ... after all, they are looking for press coverage. So that is a great opportunity for you.

I changed the title of the thread for you (I saw the edit that you tried to do).

I can't answer you question but hope someone else has some experience with this. I've been in showrooms (since I"m a stylist), but never to a press invite.

Also, here's a related thread about how showrooms work (but nothing about a press invite) just in caas you are interested: All About Showrooms and Sales Reps

that is amazing congrats! expect to meet people who want to know what you do and get ready to brag about your blog/interests. bring a camera, book and a pen and get ready NETWORK NETWORK! you never know how who you are going to meet!

Yes ... great idea. If you intend to network, bring professional looking business cards with your name and blog link on them so you can hand those out to anyone you meet. And take notes for your blog!!

Wow, how exciting. I can't offer any advice, but please let us know how it goes. I'd love to hear!

I just completed and internship in PR for a showroom so I think I can offer a little advice as we had just finished up a blogger press day when I was leaving. They will probably have little gift bags for you with whatever item they are pushing and/or had an overstock on, in our case it was watches. It will most likely also be catered. When you walk in you will get a friendly greeting and they will take you through the collection while you much on delish snack and sip champagne (er, grape juice in your case). You will have a chance to do a pull and if you are willing to stick around you can stick around while it's written up or they can send it via messenger which they usually do.

Thank you for all the well-wishes :)
I actually had a really lovely time at the showroom, and it was a really easygoing, more relaxed experience then I expected. When I arrived I was greeted by an intern and we immediately started looking at the first rack of clothes. They said they had already had about 20 bloggers go through the showroom before me that week, and it was only a Wednesday. I really liked looking at the clothes. In my experience the visit wasn't catered, per-say. But there were water bottles and fruits in bowls and things of that nature. I loved looking at the brands, there were about 10 or 12. The intern was a gem and she guided me around the entire thing, and I met a couple of the designers and they talked to me about their lines and the inspirations behind them. That was really fantastic. The intern even helped me photograph some of the clothes. I stayed longer then I planned to, an hour and a half. I wasn't expecting anything when I left, but they gave a bag with the lookbooks from several lines and a bracelet from one of the lines they carry. It was a lovely experience. When I got back, one of the designers even put a link to my blog on her FB page and tweeted about me. It was a really valuable experience.
