I'm hitting the sales tomorrow!

But I was wondering, what are good things to look out for?

I typically always fall into the trap of buying fashiony things that seem a bargain but I never wear.

I dont have a lot to spend, but want to see if there are any bargains out there that are actually practical!

Any tips?

Think you already hit your own nail on the head! I'm a believer that regardless of the brand or deal if your never going to wear it or get much use out of it, it's not that much of a deal is it? That aside I try and go into after holiday shopping with a mind set of what I would like to get and if it happens then great, otherwise I keep my eye out for daily staples I wear this years hunt cuff'd button down dress shirts.

Good things to look out for are things you normally would wear, or think you would get usage out of, but don't normally buy. Like I'm hitting the VS half-yearly sale next week because I need to replace all my bras and underwear. However if it's something that I just see and have to have, I have to restrain myself.

What I do for huge sales such as Black Friday or the day after Christmas is that I buy items that I hesitate to buy. For example, I LOVE jackets and shirts. So I buy mostly (if not only) jackets and shirts when I do regular shopping.

But I use huge sales days to buy things I normally don't buy. Such as shoes, denim, or pants.

things that you saw at full price and wanted then...but didn't want to spend the money for whatever reason

if you loved it then....
then it's a good bet that you will love it now...
and now that it is marked down you should grab it...

what softie said! it's so rare tht happens for me but fab when it does!
& basics. i always stock up on plain 100% cotton tanks/tees for layering.
why pay full price for things which are so so basic.
i do think quality is more important for knitwear tho!

*it's always good to buy one, just one, 'i would never buy this normally but it's 75% off' item too.
it satisfies any impulse buy urges i have & often i end up loving the item & really glad i did take the chance

Well. Ive tried to control myself, as when things are on sale I consider/buy them when I normally wouldnt if they were full price. That's my new rule, if I wouldnt be interested in it full price, then Im not interested in it on sale...

Its really tempting, I controlled myself at Givenchy Homme yesterday, I saw this amazing biker jacket except it had this HEINOUS shearling collar (im so not shearling) I was seriously considering it...but then I thought, is this really me? Im only interested in it b/c its 80% off...I left it...

glamour magazine (DEC)

basically the spread gages a bargain buy by its life expectancy (how many times you'll wear it between now and next year's sale

CHUNKY KNIT 48 wears (twice a week till June)
BLACK COAT (120 years everyday during winter)
BLACK PUMPS (156 wears - live in them til they fall apart)
