What to wear to someone else's wedding

oh god. ive only been invited to one wedding, and that's because i FORCED to go because i was in the frickin thing. thankfully no one i know has gotten married anytime soon, because i wouldn't know what the hell to wear. but i will need advice soon, my friend is engaged. pshhhew.

^ If you can arrange to be in the wedding party again, someone else will decide for you

yes but im kind of anti-marriage. i think it's beautiful but unfair. bah, gay rights and stuff.

^ That's all gonna change soon, right? On the ballot in CA, military wants to get rid of don't ask, don't tell ... by the time you're really old enough to get married, everything could be different

luckily i have not been to very many weddings. i don't really believe in that institution. at the last one i wore an issey miyake suit made of crinkled dark red corduroy and my date wore a sky blue tux. the bride's mother's reaction was, "hmm...have you spent a lot of time in europe?" which i think was her euphemism for "are you gay?" maybe vermont wasn't the right location to premiere that miyake suit :|

What to wear to a wedding

I apologize if there is already a thread for this, but I couldn't find one, so here goes.
My old dance teacher's wedding is tomorrow, and I still don't know what I'm going to wear (late, I know...)! I'm just wondering what you guys think about this.
The attire is supposed to be "formal."
Are skinny black jeans with heels and a fancy top too casual (or black)?
How fancy should a dress be?

The wedding isn't too casual nor too ritzy. It's a pretty average one. It's not in a church, but at a nice cafe place (where many weddings are held).

Thanks!

^ Looks like the wedding's already happened, but I would say yes, jeans are too casual for most weddings, especially a church wedding. OK, all the weddings I've been to

on no planet are any kind of jeans 'formal'......
i hope she wore something else...
^_^...

i am going to a wedding in the south of france next month..
i hesitated about wearing black at first...
but...in th eend...it is what i am most comfortable in and that is what i am going with....
so i have the dress...

but choosing accessories is proving to be rather difficult...
i think i have too MANY options...
i'm finding it hard to choose...

:ermm:...

Does a wedding photographer need to match the wedding's color scheme/theme, or are they free to choose their own outfit? I'm wondering because recently I was asked to photograph a family member's wedding, and since the colors of the wedding haven't been decided on yet, I'm not sure whether to wait to buy a dress or not.

Please say I don't have to match, because I'd love to go out and find a pretty new dress I can wear outside of a wedding!

I think you definitely should ... sounds like a perfect opportunity to wear a hat, and this one's great.

No, I don't think you'd have to match at all ... possibly photographers are meant to blend in  Do you have anything that looks like a potted plant?

What about wearing red?

That means you've slept with the groom...

I wish this dress was available in gray.

A friend of mine have gone bridezilla, and won't let her guests wear red ( :innocent: ), blue (!), black, green or yellow. That leaves me with very few choices. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm the maid (matron?) of honor I'd wear black just for spite. Have anyone seen any nice gray dresses?

Wearing red means you've slept with the groom? Uh oh ... I wore red to a wedding before ... :ninja: but of course I did sleep with the groom. :brows:

:rofl::shifty:

How about a floral dress, since I have plenty of those? No, I understand what you mean by trying to blend in, and that is probably what I'll aim for. Now I just have to find the perfect dress that fits those guidelines--a difficult task for someone like me. :innocent:
