What's Next for Nicolas Ghesquière?

Nicholas Ghesquiere for Halston would be a dream come true for me, but that's a flat chance.

Now, that's rich. If he doesn't try to turn Fendi into an utilitarian house, it's gonna be really interesting.

Or Ghesquiere for Schiaparelli perhaps?

Hedi out after one more season and then Nicolas as YSL

Ghesquiere starting his own line will be the best outcome ever!

Ghesquiere for YSL would have been fantastic but too bad the relationship with PPR seems soured.

The rumor was that he was in talks with LVMH so if he went to Fendi that would make perfect sense to that rumor... but I can guarantee LVMH were rubbing their hands when he came calling, because Nicolas has a very vast amount of followers who will buy into what he's doing including myself.

I couldn't imagine Karl leaving Fendi after 40 years at the house though...

^ i actually couldn't imagine nicolas at fendi, at all. but it'd be interesting. I'm joining the 'ghesquiere for ghesquiere' hopefuls though.

one wonders though can nicholas handle running his own business? i mean he's never had a line of his own name before and maybe that's why he's allegedly sticking with houses. he did literally go from being an assistant to thimister at balenciaga to the helm after thimister was sacked after that whole add n to (x) debacle.

after thimister was sacked after that whole add n to (x) debacle.

What debacle was that? I'd like to hear more about it if someone could suggest some sources (or be kind enough to give a short synopsis). :innocent:

I think Fendi would be an interesting idea. I feel like Karl is running it into the ground at this point. I can't even remember the last relevant collection he had for that house.

^^ I agree! The last collection from Fendi was quite nice! Anyways Nicolas for Fendi seems cool, he's worked with fur very well at Balenciaga but I'd really love him to start his own house and create his own DNA, ect. In the end I'm fine with anything tbh, I just really want to see new collections from him.

I feel like Fendi actually would be a rather exciting venture. A house that share's his unrelenting quest for new fabrications and new construction techniques - I mean, this is the house that created gold fur by throwing it in a pressurized vat with disolved bars of gold to be absorbed into the hairs of the pelts!

And Fendi could really use some clear direction. There's nothing that Karl has done design-wise at Fendi that a) has any relevence and b) has had any influence. Has he done nice things? Of course. But anything important or interesting in the grand scheme of fashion? Not at all.

Also - it'd be nice for Nicolas to be in a position at a house where the revenue is pretty much built in with its enormous handbag industry. It's not like Karl's clothes have truly made the house any money.

I also prefer the idea of Ghesquiere for Ghesquiere. If he's going to take established brands and do whatever suits his fancy with them, he might as well do that with his own brand. Aside from the last Balenciaga collection, his recent collections really were not relevant to the Balenciaga DNA.
