What's Next for Nicolas Ghesquière?

I was hoping Ghesquiere would get his own brand but oh well... What I really don't get is why they'd want Marc out

I hope this particular rumor turns out to be true. Marc Jacobs's aesthetics for Louis Vuitton have become seriously tedious. The campaigns have turned into disasters. Yeah, Jacobs' collections for Vuitton might sell, and might be worn by the stars, but I'd love to see Nicolas Ghesquière at the helm. I don't take much interest in designers or fashion houses but I fail to see how Ghesquière would be a misfit at Louis Vuitton.

I wouldn't want to see anyone out of a job, but if anything it's Ghesquière who's out of a job at the present moment. Marc would have his own lines to continue and progress with.

That completely contradicts what Ghesquiére has said in his interviews with both System and 032c, but that being said LVMH are continuing to strive for continued growth and adding Ghesquiére into the mix with his legion of fans would bring added growth to the brand, but my one concern would be how Nicolas would fare with the continued push on products at LV after that was one thing he felt he was continued to be pushed for more and more ideas/products/collections when LV produce above and beyond the simple 6 collections a year, their online store stocks over 1000 products without even touching upon Ready To Wear.

What I find more intriguing is that fact that all potential stories about Ghesquiére's future are linked to LVMH, my suspicion is, from hints within his interviews, is the possibility of LVMH backing his own brand.

I dont imagine Nicolas Ghesquière at LV at all. I think it will be a big mistake. Marc Jacobs seems to be quite good at LV and his latest collections are interesting. Then, Marc Jacobs at Coach ?!

I agree with Chanelcouture09. I thought the point of him running to lvmh meant they proposed backing him up with his own label. Based on his recent interviews, you just get the feeling that's what he's been preparing for. Not to mention his principles goes against what LV's product expansion is all about.

I like MJ for LV a lot so I wouldn't wanna miss him. I want Nicolas to have his own brand.

Also, in the recent article about the take over of Marc by Marc Jacobs, it was said that Marc Jacobs was concentrating more on working for his own line AND Louis Vuitton.

I can't really see Nicolas at LV, it just doesn't make sense to me.. Especially since Marc has just passed over the creative director position for Marc by Marc Jacobs, I really doubt he would do that if he was planning to leave LV.
I'm still holding out for Nicolas to get his own line. I'd rather see that than watch him adhere to LV's aesthetic.

Balenciaga Sues Nicolas Ghesquiere

BALENCIAGA is reportedly suing former creative director Nicolas Ghesquière - following a controversial interview that was published after his exit from the fashion house, in which he criticised the brand's management. A spokesperson on behalf of the fashion house could not be reached for comment.

According to French business magazine Challenges, Balenciaga - which is owned by Kering, formerly known as PPR - is filing legal charges against the designer for "breach of duty of confidentiality". The offending interview in question - published in System magazine in April - was the first time that he had spoken out since departing the label. A Kering representative declined to comment on the reports.

In the candid piece, Ghesquière revealed that he decided to leave the fashion house because he "ended up feeling too alone", and as though he was being "sucked dry". He also accused the label of "lacking in direction" and claimed that he had a lack of support from the business side of the relationship.

Ghesquière and Balenciaga announced the end of their 15-year relationship in November last year, and the designer was eventually succeeded by Alexander Wang as creative director. Much speculation has been made as to what his next move will be - not least that he may be set to take the helm at Louis Vuitton when, and if, Marc Jacobs decides to step down - but nothing has yet been confirmed.

i don't even understand if there's any kind of legal basis for this action. I have the mag but haven't gotten around reading the interview yet, but from the article above it looks like albeit candid, he remained pretty 'vague' about his discontent and what was going on there. I understand confidentiality but it's not like he went out and spilled industry secrets.

anyway, yet another pathetic move from PPR. lol. keep on selling 68,000 babydolls and sueing people, if that what makes you happy guys.

Ridiculous... He made Balenciaga the brand it is today (well, definitely not today, eight months ago) and that's the gratitude they show towards him? Just sad. How much I wish designers were independent...

I need him back. Life is way worse without him making collections… He's a genius.
