I dont think so, for there to be an invasion I think they have to all be pretty successful. The only Australian models up there right now are Gemma and Elyse Taylor.

Well, it looks like quite an invasion to me. I mean, what about this whole thread http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/f52/aussie-invasion-30231.html ? There are quite a few names up there other than the ones you mentioned: Nicole Trunfio, Alyssa Sutherland... Aussies are not much less successful than others. Say, not all Russian models are successful either, it's just a few names also. Or do you mean it's not an invasion because these girls haven't appeared all at one moment ? Anyways, looks quite like an invasion to me...

I concur. But not the SI/VS American model, and definatly not the Hilary Rhoda/Brooke Shields patrician. No, I want the Gia/Beverly Johnson/Cindy Crawford type of American invasion. The sexy, but still pure class look- I think Cameron Russel embodies that quite well.

*size of the economy
*size of the population
*beauty of the population

its not a coincidence that there's so many brazilian models on the runways...its because brazilians are FREAKING GORGEOUS. and they have a pop of 150 million...brazil is also the leading economy in south america.

ya, maybe the next wave will come from china, i dunno. with 1 billion chinese ppl, theres bound to be at least a handful of hot ones.

I think by African, you mean South Africa since Africa is a continent unless you are including all the nations I definitely put my bets on this. I was reading an article about the major growth of the fashion industry in the country and I'm sure there are many gorgeous women of all different races. I doubt the Middle East will produce a wave of new models (even though I would love to see that happen). Despite what is supposed to be considered a more free society, many women are still oppressed. It's definitely possible in a more liberal city such as Dubai though.

I wouldn't consider Canada rich, in fact many Middle Eastern countries are much more wealthy. But the wealth of a nation has little to do with the models that come from it. Look at all the Russian models who grew up poor. Many countries are also equally ethnically diverse. I believe the USA even has a higher percentage of non-caucasians.

And I don't think there is such strong dependency of girls's success in international modeling on their country's economy, in general.
