Which of Today's Models Have the Most Lasting Power?

I used to love Natalia-- I suppose I still do-- but at the same time she has lost all her lustre for me. Some of her new stuff is good, but... she was so much more interesting and emotive when she first arrived. (At first she was sad, sweet looking, self-possessed and seductive, very powerful in her editorials, but now she simply looks blank to me.)

Oh yes, I feel the same way about her now  like she lost her touch or something. It's very sad, I loved her so much back then!

i don't think stam will last that long. her eyes are the only thing she really has going for her. doutzen and all those other ones are up there too, they all seem the same.
i don't think karen is going to disappear anytime soon and neither will mariacarla.
cinta i think has some staying power as well i think even though she's not my favorite. i don't know. i like tiiu but i'm not too sure about her.
Stam's eyes are definitely the centerpiece of her face but how they contrast (almost jarringly) with her cutesy, innocent nose and mouth is equally captivating, imo.

I don't see much of a future for Cintia. She's cute but not interesting enough to stay around for the long haul.

there's another factor in this...

if model and designers are good friends, then they are likely to have bonding relationships and the model will continue to be in the shows. so i think girls with the great personalities are likely to keep it up longer becuase the designers want to work with them.
and of course, we have no idea what these girls are really like. the few interviews we see are definetly not enough to know them.

Karen Elson is pregnant, after she has her baby her figure won't be the same. Also she has been in the industry for a long time, I personally think she will quit soon..

Lots of mdoels still have the same figure after they had babies, Ai Tominaga, Natalia, Liya, Heidi....but I dont know about Karen.

But she's invited to all kinds of premiers and openings ;) (lovely avatar btw!)

Also agree on Mariacarla. Hello H&M campaign! (+ Givenchy and Alessandro Dell'Acqua perfume)

Tiiu isn't fading. Watch your words mister  She did around 40 shows this season and I guarantee you she will show up at Haute Couture as well.

Hmmm... I think Daria definetly!! And Natalia
And I hope Eugenia and Natasha Poly

Karen's been modeling a good 9 years at least! I think that shows she has staying power, she is both beautiful and unusual, but i can understand why some people may not like her look. But i think she might make the move to singing more full time after her baby is born.

Gemma will not be around for too long. Sorry, Gemma fans but she is one weird looking girl with no universal appeal. She couldn't model for commercial projects once the fickle fashion world is done with her. I didn't realize how "different" she really looks until I saw her ed in US Vogue the other day. She has the face of a 9 year old girl on a adult woman's figure. Weird.

Gemma started a phenomenon- anyone who thinks she won't last obviously has a problem coping with the fact that a girl who looks a bit embrionic (as beautiful as she is) is going to be in the supermodel elite very soon. She is the closest thing we have to a supermodel today. I don't care how many people think that Daria is beautiful( ), Gemma has a look that people can remeber easier. She never get's lost in the sea of Ingunas and Hanas walking around these days.

No, Gemma just gets lost in a sea of Heathers, Carolines, and Lilys. A look ceases to be unique when it has about 50 clones. I doubt Daria has much staying power, but her face is certainly more unique than Gemma's.

I agree^^^. Once the next trend in models come around, Gemma along with the other "aliens" will be soon forgotten. Unlike models like Mini Anden or Karolina K, Gemma won't be a VS or S.I. girl anytime soon.

^ agreed on Gemma alien-look. That look is a trend. A long lasting one is a classic face. :)

I don't think SI or VS mean the same as lasting power :flower:

^^I think having high fashion cred is more important. VS/SI sort of tarnishes the model's image by making her seem cheap. Take somebody like Cindy Crawford. She was arguably the biggest model in her day but I think people now prefer Christy and Naomi over Cindy because they have more unique, artistic looks that don't seem too commercial or trite. But a face also needs some classic qualities to last. Even Kate Moss with her unique face has certain universally attractive aspects. Gemma lacks that necessary classic component. Worse she's completely edgeless and blank. She's weird without being interesting. That's the kiss of death.

^ it does (referring to high fashion) but long lasting power in terms of being in the public eye and getting lucrative deals SI and VS as well as Perilli under your belt is power and long lasting.
