why do you like/hate john galliano?

i like him because of his love for colour, exoticism, drama and cultural heritage stems and how he involves history in his outfits...and how he has turned couture around, expecially the last dior haute couture

i like him because he is a true talent. i hate him because he flushed his talent down a circus toilet a while ago.

I hate him because his clothes are unwearble yet overpriced. I hat him because he is such a label wh*re.

I like him becuase of the amount of talent he has, I hate him beacuse he spent a lot of time channeling his talents into showmanship more than anything else.

I love John for pulling me into the world of fashion for the first time. I love John for his fantasy and creativity and for his whimsical shows. I love him for the fantastic couture. I hate him for the over-logoed stuff.

I love him because most of his clothes are magic, i love him because he got me interested in fashion i hat him because of his logo crap for dior and i hate him for spending more time on what he's going to wear at the end of the shows than what the models wear during the shows. i hate him for recently steering maison dior into eternal chavdom, i love him because he makes me laugh and he see's fashion as something that should be fun i love him because of Galliano s/s 1994

Agree. Plus the whole crazy fur thing. I agree though that he's one of the most talented designers of our time.

Yeah.. This is 100% what I think :flower:

I love him when he shows the genius design talent that produced the modern version of ' The cut on the bias dress ' , and other equally instinctive and utterly original pieces .

I hate him when he becomes so self indulgent , that the beautiful pieces in his menswear , for instance , get lost in the totally over the top presentation .

He is one of the designers people will read about in 100 years time , like Yves Saint Laurent . Whether that reading will be with absolute approval on the part of the fashion cognoscenti , rests with John Galliano himself !!!

i dislike him (note I don't tend to HATE anyone) because he is a misogynist.

why do you think he is a misogynist? i think his clothes embrace the female form

I guess you haven't heard the famous "i want to make clothes for women so men will want to f**k them" comment.

no i hav'nt  though i totally see that in the slag-like recent dior collections. i suppose if his clothes didnt have that appeal then they wouldnt sell or something then?

And I guess you will never stop taking that comment out of contrast all the time. I've heard this one one too many times to start explaining it again.

Exactly.

I dislike him as well because I feel his talent is alost in capitalism. He has disillusioned what people consider as creative over the last years. Not to mention his arrogance and over-inflated ego has got the best of him these days. He no longer cares about his work...more so he cares about his status and who wears them.

I used to like Galliano for the complete opposite but that's all shifted.

And another thing I hate....in all designer's really...is that he often uses the excuse,"I went to such and such and got inspired". How tired is that?! I used to think he took trips through his imagination(one reason I still appreciate Gaultier) but it seems his imagination plays no role anymore.

...Ok i don't want to get into it either Mr Dale but its an inexcuseable thing to say no matter what the context. But let snot get into that old chestnut again. Given the clothes he designs for women, I find it hard to beleive he thinks highly of them.
