Why do you like/hate Prada?

wow should this thread start the trend title why do you like/ hate _____?

good idea travolta, bring them like-hate topics in B)

SpacemiuShe is really a stylist, not a designer , she is not creating new thinsg but she is bringing thing together. This is why 'everybody' can find something they like from prada and why it has such stroung inffluence on fashion. Personally I like soem of there clothes and shoes but it's not really for me. I like Miu Miu better.

good points -as usual :P

For me there's no cut & dried love or hate. If I see I nice dress, or shoes or cardigan, I'll buy it. (providing my bank balance says yes) I'm not against any brand or designer, if I like an item I don't really care who it's by.

I wouldn't go out of my way to find anything by Prada, but then there are very, very few designers I would...if it crosses my path and I like it, that's fine. :D

A mere stylist she is indeed however she's still one of the most grotesque copy-cats in the industry. And lately,it's become so obvious that it's turned my stomach. I used to tolerate her work a bit more a while back....when it actually looked like Prada. Now it's looking more like a pathetic attempt at a Bernhard Willhelm collection.

Faust & Scott - such hard taskmasters! LOL .....or is that discerning......

i love AND hate prada

I love and hate prada. The clothes on the runway are always ugly, always slightly wrong. But thats okay because thats the idea.

Now i will say that i don't like prada accesories. I love to wear her ugly clothes with my pretty shoes by manolo balhnik. That way there is the contrast.

I refuse to wear ugly shoes

prada clothes are not meant to make the wearer look attractive. They are meant to make the wearer look wealthy.

You can look at someone wearing prada and say- that looks so bad, but it's PERFECT.

What prada says to me is ---i'm so rich that i don't have to be pretty---

i'm better than you, so i dont have to try as hard as you- that is the attitude of prada.

That is why prada is prada.

i admit that i am a bit confused when people talk about the 'intellectualism' of prada...can someone please explain to me how her designs are intellectual and why people call muiccia an intellectual designer?

i really love prada eyewear..its unique but still simple enough to wear everyday. i personally cant afford to buy 5 or 6 pairs of eyeglasses worth $300 so those fancy chanel and dior ones are gorgeous and i love them, but just not practical for everyday use.

as for the rest of the line, i'm not a big fan. occasionally something will strike as appealing, but i'm more of a Galliano/Cavalli/Dolce & Gabbana type girl

and what about us being 'in the middle' so to say plumage?
come on, lets discuss Prada right in this thread, this is quite an interesting exchange ..
think of how continuous praise would bore you -and everyone else- to unfashionably messy tears

All right, I admit my comment was a little hot-headed. You're absolutely right Lena, nothing but positivity would be boring. Diana Vreeland once said, "Never fear being vulgar, just boring."

^ yes definately a fan of designer eyewear-prada/ chanel esp. eye fetish not shoe fetish for me...if i ever get up to multiple pairs i'll reason a girls gotta see!

The only thing that I really like about Prada is how she doesnt use overt sexuality to sell her clothes, not in the designs, the ad campaigns or the runway shows.

I like most of her shoes from her menswear collections...And I DID like her collections from a few years back. The newer collections, I can care less about..

Correct me if Im wrong, but are there NO black models (or any other model of color for that fact) in her shows? I think Sandy Oumar would fit in nicely w/ the Prada "look." :ninja:

Aren't we making an elephant of an issue regarding the lack of models of different ethnicities? Who knows what the reasons are or if it's a coincidence. And wasn't that Hye Park and Marina Perez in the latest Prada show?

Does anyone know of interesting information about Prada on the net? I'm looking for a detailed biography of the company and miuccia herself.

I also don't understand where's the intellectualism behind her collections. To me her recent collection seems to be more about putting together an eclectic mixture of styles. Nothing is really invented or reinvented.

NOT that I take Karl to be the definitive word on all things fashion, but when asked about Prada in a recent mag (Vogue, W? which ever one he has that sort of running column) but he compared Prada to “the emperors new clothes” as in “they” tell you it’s fashionable so it must be… While I like the frumpy thing in concept, on most people it just looks…frumpy. Even their ad model (or that’s Miu Miu I guess) Maggie Gy-howeveryouspellhername sometimes looked frumpy in the clothes other than in the ads. I know all looks are shown on the runway on perfect bodies, so they look good. But what if they look lousy on everyone else….Bottom line, if you’re thin and good looking everything looks good on you!
