"Although some factors remain unsettled, such as the pandemic and the financial crisis of the China Evergrande Group, we are preparing to reenter the New York market as early as June 2022. We are planning to open a 200-sq.-meter street-level store in Soho. The directly managed store in New York was closed in 2010 with the company's rehabilitation, so this will be our first entry into the U.S. market in 12 years."
here is how it gets here.
that part of what yohji wrote for nikkei's "my personal history" had originally been published in september 2021.
and the english translation came in april 2022.
the original says "as early as next spring".
the translation "as early as June 2022".
I checked both and found that is the only edited part.
then, in july 2022, there appeared an article in the nikkei that says YY will be opening stores in tokyo, osaka, and NY in autumn 2022.
and in september 2022, wwdjapan reported YY will open its new shop in aoyama, tokyo this september and the other two in osaka and NY next month.
we actually had the new tokyo shop in september. the osaka one already opened in october.
but NY shop didn't come back in october, according to softgrey.
so I thought the project might have fallen through.
but just asked YY and they confirmed it is still ongoing. (said hopefully next spring)
I guess things don't go as they wish over there.
