yea!!! and then comments like " I just don't think it's cruel. do you think it's cruel to wear leather shoes?" make me sooo sick!!!
I mean maybe one cow has to die for about 100 shoes, but about 100 fur bearing animals have to die after days of torture and cruelety for 1 disgusting coat!!!

You know, it's a bit of a slippery slope to defend using or killing animals based upon the relative "usefulness" of their deaths...

I'm sick of seeing people wearing leather products protest about fur, and I don't think that meat-eaters can claim some kind of higher moral ground compared to fur-wearers.

The fact is that we don't need to eat meat, wear leather or wear fur. We also don't need to eat or drink dairy products or eggs; I bring this up because the animals in the industry aren't exactly living a grand life...

Most of us contribute to the exploitation of animals in one way or another.

The videos that supposedly expose the cruelty that goes on in the fur industry have been shown to be falsified to a large extent. PETA themselves have been implicated.

(And you won't get a 100 pairs of shoes out of the hide from one cow...)

^ I am a vegetarian,...
and I just thought that the " you are also wearing leather shoes excuse" isn't a justification for wearing fur... because it is much more cruel for my opinion!!!
And of course I know that one cow isn't big enough for suppyling 100 pairs of shoes ^^

Unless you're a Buddhist monk, living up a mountain and powering your computer on a secret elixir of yak's milk, your ecological footprint is probably being contributed to by quite a lot more than your fur/leather/meat consumption...

Well, unless you're hardcore vegan you still contribute to the exploitation of animals, right?

^well that's true... but you have to admit that eating eggs and drinking milk isn't the same like wearing fur...

i think everyone in some way or form directly or indirectly .. weather they do it willingly or are completly oblivious contributes to animal exploitation.

i dont know about anyone else but i personally think this thread is getting out of hand and the actual point of the thread has been lost .. its do you own or were alot of fur .. yes or no answer really isnt it .. maybe a discription of pieces you own .. or even a simply i dont agree with it .. fair enough .. but i can just sense a arguement brewing and think its better to stop sooner rather then later :flower:

Do you think it's fair and acceptable to keep animals chained and suffering for a life-time so that we can eat cheese?

I could argue that it's easier on the animals to be gassed for fur...

Oh noo you make me even feel guilty for eating cheese now!!!

But the difference is... I need something to eat... but I don't need a fur coat...

And there are so many misshapes and cruelities on this world, and of course I can't eliminate all of them! But I try my best!!!

You don't need cheese to eat. Just as one doesn't need fur to wear (apart from in some very cold countries). It's a choice...

It's not easy living without milk products, eggs, and honey...

this discussion is getting arduous!!!

if you think about it if it wasnt for fur the human race would have died out as in the ice age etc. when it was so cold early man needed fur etc. to stay warm with .. and to wear as clothing.

there is no sense in that,... seems that you really don't understand at all what I mean...

As a matter of fact, it is pretty easy to avoid dairy, eggs and honey (although I don't think bees really suffer in the production of honey...)
