Your Interior Decorating Style...

^ Hello, panda teddy

I made sure when I bought my sofa that it was long enough for me to stretch out on & take a nap. (So important to test drive sofas ^_^) I did not factor dogs into the equation though

oh can we just talk about animals on sofas for a minute...  what a mess!. chocolate brown couch + (mostly) white cat = nightmare.... people laugh at me because i really do spend time picking it all off.. i think animals are like kids....they teach you not to be so anal about things and just relax and enjoy...but i really did underestimate the impact of having a dark coloured couch and a light coloured cat! problem is that he has patches of dark grey/black too...so i guess i would have been screwed either way. :p

^ OMG so true

And I have the exact same issue ... I have two Shelties, one mahogany sable, so the fur ranges from white to brown to mahogany, and one blue merle, with white, grey, black, and tan. The white is quite visible on my purple sofa ... and needless to say they can shed visibly on whatever I might be wearing.

One of my coworkers doesn't have dogs because she wants her house just so ... apparently she's always running around disinfecting  What a loss, is what I think ... luckily I was never a perfectionist housekeeper to begin with :p

My sofa is slipcovered ... when the dogs really make a mess I send that piece to the cleaners. When people are coming over I whip out the lint roller. When no one's coming over I remove the large chunks

Oh, I am also careful of what I'm wearing when I sit on the sofa--see the "What to wear when you're slumming" thread ...

^ BF doesn't sound very flexible :innocent: Tell him beware the revenge of the teddies ... they're not as harmless as they look if you really tick them off :p

For me to live with someone, I think there would have to be some very good taste involved, or a clear understanding that I am in charge of decor

I actually think it's great if two people can kind of forge a new personal style together ... but it seems like most of the time the input is "not this, not that ..." I find long lists of no-nos a huge bore ;)
Well, I was getting a bit sick of alle the vintage furniture...mostly because it was so heavy to move around. I did keep some of my stuff, and he does love the table and the mirror. Because I tell him to

I think our decorating styles went really well together - he decided some pieces, I decided other pieces, and it cam out really good ^_^

I'm sure Panda will try to kill him someday...:shifty:

Oh btw ta-ta my parents have the same problem with my dog...he sheds like crazy in every colour you can think of  So they just learned to live with dog hair all over their clothes, the house and the car. Actually I still find dog hair in my appartment even though it's been 6 months since my dog was here

Well, I'm sort of stuck at a design crossroads, lol. My style floats between very very simple and basic, dark wood, white bedding, colours like olive green/dark dusky pink etc. with a bit of a romantic flavour... and the direction it's headed now is more towards the romantic side of things - faded wood, delicate printed bedding, lighter pastel colours etc. It's hard to explain... Anyway, I'm thinking I'm going to have to stick to my original feel for design, as this is our new house:

(please ignore my mum, nephew and brother in law out the front, lol)

This is the style I am headed towards....

I am currently lusting over a lot of things on this website :heart:

I love the room with the red roses and the room with all the teddies. Oh, and thanks for the link. It looks like a good place to find inspiration for what I would like my home to look like.

I've moved around a lot in my life - I've lived in about twenty different homes. So...because of that I don't really get that into decorating. I am a serious believer in really minimalist (but 'homey') pieces and also having as little clutter as possible! I think space management is really interesting too - and neurotically organized closets...:p

congrats on the new home b...looks great!. i love the colour...and the little garden out the front is very sweet too..

Hmm, I dont have control over the rest of my house. Since I alone dont decorate it.

But my room consists of an antique, carved wooden closet with a mirror.
A divan with pillows.
A heavy wooden bed with black glass.
An antique, carved desk for me to work on.

A small board to tack things on. Some paintings - mostly engravings.

Thankfully my fiance lets me make most of the decisions and he pretty much likes everything I've picked out. At various points when we've been at stores picking things out, the sales people have remarked on how well we come to a decision together. Usually we both sort of end up finding the same item and both liking it:)

Thank you thank you for posting the Paris Apartment. I LOVE that blog.

thanks so much

beautiful apartment Inaya.. I love the shelves in the bedroom, too! And the black, glazed tiles in the kitchen. And of course the full-length windows. I always wanted to have that as well
