Your Interior Decorating Style...

gg i LOVE both coffee table ideas...:woot: personally i love glass (my coffee table is all glass) but with the pictures of your apartment somehow i think the first one would suit better...:flower:

I moved into my new apt last week and need some help picking out furniture! This is part of my setup right now, although the room will be painted and of course there will be stuff on the walls. I have flowers on the little prismatic table now. I painted the console table two shades of purple, there is some coral and stacked books by the vase and a large painting with an ornate frame behind it. The breakfast bar has a cellula lamp and some bar stools that are in the mail, and a new lighting fixture in the kitchen. That was taken the day after I moved in so it's pretty bare, I wanted to take a new pic but I seemed to have misplaced my camera charger. Next to the sofa there is a little desk that will be replaced by a crendenza, and on the wall opposite I have my TV hung up over the fire place and a side table with a large vase.

My next purchases are going to be an arm chair and coffee table but Im not really sure what to get. I was thinking possibly the b&b italia up5 chair but I'm not sure if it would match. I could also move my womb chair from the den to the living room if that would look better, or get something else entirely. As for the coffee table I like two from hudson furniture but again not sure which would look better if either.

This is the up5 chair I was considering except I would get it in all BLACK... It's the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in.

This is the womb chair, I'm waiting for leather samples before I figure out what color it's going to be.

This coffee table I would get in a much smaller size and maybe in a lighter wood or one that is almost black

Another option I was considering is a chunk of petrified wood with a slab of square or rectangular glass over it. These are surprisingly large in person..

I would love some feedback, even if it's just to say my choices are terrible! :p

I think these choices are fabulous^_^

Can you purchase the Up5 chair in the us?

thanks!

Thanks guys!! Wearable art, diva furniture in LA carries b&b italia. Which coffee table do you preffer if you dont mind me asking?

ah i love everything.. in my room i have white walls, a black bed with white sheets, flowers, see-through curtains, a tree roller blind, polaroids, magazines and music (and a cd player).

but seriously i love everything! i love the all white country house look, the grandmother flower thing, the trashed look, the empty look, the all over the place and haven't cleaned in six months look.. the only thing i despise is lots of neons and modern things. Uncomfortable looking things and shiny kitchens with no handles.. I can't stand it.

I'm having some design issues with our new house... The style of the house is very modern, almost asian inspired in it's design... But my interior design tastes are headed towards a more french provincial sort of style... I have no idea how to combine the two, or if I should just give up and focus on the sleeker, more modern and simple style that I also enjoy...

^ That's a tough one, B ...

Could you maybe post a few pix of French provincial things you like, and maybe we can brainstorm about how it could mix with modern?

I have a few modern touches in my house ... but everything absolutely must be cozy & warm, which modern has a tendency not to be. It can be, though, everything is possible :flower:

Belowen Tables could be cozy and provincial, and then the chairs would be more sleek and so on. You can def. make it work if you keep the colours to a minimum. Like creme, white and black with splashes of blue (or something else). I think that would work.

Just got a bunch of stuff from Ikea, of course :D

cute stuff ida! i LOVE the cushions and the throw for the couch. actually i love the couch too. that looks so cozy, and i love all the whites and creamy tones with the hardwood floors.

My appartment is tiny, so everything has to be really light... But I must say that I love my couch. I take my best naps in it

^ Hello, panda teddy

I made sure when I bought my sofa that it was long enough for me to stretch out on & take a nap. (So important to test drive sofas ^_^) I did not factor dogs into the equation though

I like that the flat is so light...im planing to use very light colours for my new room and use some very colourful decoration

my house is a 1920's craftsmen, with hardwood floors and lovely built ins, etc. My style is sort of shabby chic but with a more modern, quirky twist to it. A great deal of the things in my house are fabulous finds from thrift/resale shops. I am not big on matchy matchy anything. My sister came to visit and she goes " you know what I like about your house? Nothing really matches" I guess the same is sort of true in how I dress:)

We had to use light colours, our appartment is SO darn tiny, you wouldn't believe it..

I used to be a really mis-matchy person and buy only vintage like chaneladdict. But BF likes it fresh and clean, so I caved in :innocent:Well, I kept my mirror and dining table. Only because they're from my great grandmother.

ta-ta
Panda says hello :brows:

That's another thing... BF hates Panda  He once put it on the oven!

^ BF doesn't sound very flexible :innocent: Tell him beware the revenge of the teddies ... they're not as harmless as they look if you really tick them off :p

For me to live with someone, I think there would have to be some very good taste involved, or a clear understanding that I am in charge of decor

I actually think it's great if two people can kind of forge a new personal style together ... but it seems like most of the time the input is "not this, not that ..." I find long lists of no-nos a huge bore ;)
