Your Interior Decorating Style...

Inaya love your bedroom, and the view looks amazing.
My office is very much like your bedroom. Black and White

love the minimalism, inaya!

what do you guys think of a chandelier on a vaulted ceiling? I just have half a vault, if that makes any sense. It comes up at an angle, drops down 4-5', and then continues as a lower straight ceiling for the kitchen.

Beautiful apartment, Inaya! So uncluttered and lovely. Now I just want to see a photo of your closet! ^_^

I think a chandelier on a vaulted ceiling can be perfect ... sometimes they're visually heavy, and the vault gets them out of the way. I can't picture your half vault tho

inaya i also like your apartment

those floor to ceiling windows are so great..

and i like the contemporary minimalism of the space... very nice and uncluttered

belowen i like all of the stuff you posted as well..
a combination of the romantic and the more modern is such a great compromise of the styles..

hello! i just recently completely redone my room so i have some suggestions.
for the room at your moms, since you said you wanted to incorporate the quilt, you should work around finding furniture and paint your wall according to colors that compliments the colors of the quilt.

at your dads, those lights i believe are called "track lights". but anyway since the room is small, you should think of doing bright / light colors to widen and brighten up the room for a refreshing look, maybe your favorite color that inspires you. also incorporate and work off of the collages that are already in the room, forming a cohesive look.

& try www.crateandbarrel.com for some furniture.
also www.ikea.com is good and affordable.

i hope this was helpful!

clean and simple ida, i love it

my style is pretty schizophrenic i think....i have never been able to pick a really distinct style and dedicate myself to it, so i have inspiration from all over the place that i think manifests itself in my home :p i am really drawn to that scandinavian style {very simple, modern, clean, lots of whites, beiges and natural, earthy tones,} and also to a more cluttered, eclectic, bohemian kind of shabby chic thing, which i realise is in itself a completely ridiculous definition

i think i somehow manage to blend the two by maintaining a pretty neutral palate and then punching it with a colour....my apartment has a sort of beige/taupe colour on the walls and the same for the carpet in the bedrooms, and then very pale hardwood floors everywhere else....but then i have accented with a very bright orange {the patio setting, a single orange chair in the open plan living area, orange artwork etc} which reminds me of that boho/moroccan-inspired style i love....i also love stacks of books/magazines, as well as photo frames and collections of little knick-knacks on an otherwise really clean surface.....i love to group together things that have meaning to me, things i have picked up on holidays etc...little sculptures, buddhas, crystals, candles, etc...that kind of gives a bohemian flavour to an otherwise fairly simple decor

i also love paintings and mirrors, so i have quite a few around the place, but very few of them are hung properly....i love the idea of leaning them against walls and grouping them together in a sort of unconventional way....so in my living area i have 5 paintings, 2 of them hung and 3 of them leaning against the wall together....i have a large mirror in my bedroom that is leaning against the wall too, which i love. i have to admit it annoys me a bit when people visit and say things like 'arent you going to hang those?'  but slowly i think my friends have come around to my way of thinking and they now accept that the paintings look kind of cool on the floor :p

Ahhhh you are so on my decorating wavelength! I LOVE artwork leaned casually against a wall. I love books stacked to create a sort of makeshift side table. And the whole bohemian look done in a spare and thoughtful way really resonates with me too.

Thanks so much guessgirl, timber and Chrissy

Adorefaith- I love your appartment-it's so my style. I have your coffee table but mine is square-it's the heaviest piece of furniture in my condo ;)

Received our first housewarming gift today, a pair of good luck elephants from my grandmother. They're going to be living in our bathroom. Humphrey and Harold.

my decorating stlye is minimalism. I love it, and try to allways stay tidy.
white is my favourite colour for interior, but i like my bedroom in warm, cozy colours.

evisu that house is beautiful! i see you and i have similar tastes.. thanks for posting.

kora thanks very much

another pic from my place..

that tarnished copper-y looking sculpture on top of the white cabinet is probably my favourite thing that i own (well, it's up there anyway). it actually holds a candle...i found it in a shop in a small town in canada marked down to $5 because no one wanted it and everyone thought it looked like rubbish. :o this seems to happen to me a lot...i love the things that no-one else wants...and fortunately they are usually always marked down ridiculously due to the lack of demand. :p
