^ Don't go all Miss Havisham on us now ;)

I had to look her up... I'm definitely not turning into her! I did find another picture featuring the lamp which I love. I also actually have that little blue table which Im thinking of painting dark purple.

I'm sure this will be more evident once I have more of my living room set up but I'm trying to decide between two chairs for my dining table. The classic eames chair in blue, or the oly studio chair in some other color combination. My dining table is surprisingly similar to the one in the eames picture except it's rectangular. I am going for a mix of modern and classic in the apt. I would love anyones opinion!

^ No, no one could be less Havisham-like than you ;)

I'd say the Eames chairs with that type of table ... I'm not sure how well they go with the chandelier tho ... it seems a bit more formal.

I'll take that as a compliment! :p

I agree about the table being not as formal, it'll be in a little area by the kitchen so I hope it looks ok.

finally got some proper photos taken of my place. sadly we are selling it, but it has been a dream home.

Thanks for posting pix, adorefaith  I esp love the mirror in the bedroom, and echoing frames on the wall.

I absolutely love your space adorefaith! My sofa looks like it's the exact same style except in a different leather/color. Where are those bedroom tables from?

That is an absolutely stunning place you have there, adorefaith.

I'm considering the idea shown in the following picture for my kitchen/dining-room:

(apartmenttherapy.com)

It's a bit shabby and very nonchalant, but it looks quite cute and 'light'.

(plus it's super easy and cheap to re-create :p)

Is my vision clouded or is this as cute as I think it is?

Not home decor, so to speak, but gardening...
I dream of a lovely garden someday... :crush:

, why in the world are you letting go of that lovely space???? :o
I am esp. in love w/ that lovely blue dresser
& all the sterling silver accents...
beautiful...

ahhh i just typed out an entire response and lost it when i went to press enter..:(
...firstly thanks for all the lovely compliments.

kanita i love that shabby chic cottage style kitchen!. i especially love the idea of using different chairs around a kitchen/dining table, each one with their own character and special story. i have seen a few examples of that done really well, i will try to dig them up for you if you like. in any case, you arent delusional, it's lovely and very sweet, and i would go for it!. :woot:

gg your couch must be cool. :p the little blue dressers are actually from a small, pretty unknown asian furniture shop in a really industrial suburb here in sydney.....to be honest i cant even remember the name  but they had so many amazing treasures. they had imported the dressers from asia and i especially loved the blue colour, i thought it was so unusual. you cant really tell from the pic but they are very distressed...lots of little scratches and bumps that give them character. the hardware is really beautiful too. i have since seen similar ones in really trendy furniture shops, not blue of course, for pretty outrageous prices!. would you believe that i bought both of them for a bit less than $200 . they said they couldnt sell them.... amazing.

i also have 2 similar ones upstairs...painted white, though. one is the same size and sits near the table, and the other is lower and longer and the TV sits on top. i love them both, and i think it gives a really nice but subtle continuity from downstairs to upstairs, because otherwise the furniture is quite different {well except for the glass bedside table and coffee table upstairs}. i will try to get a pic of the white ones, they're quite lovely too

wiw that first fireplace is  ..beautiful!. i want it. all the candles crowded on top like that are so cool...i cant imagine the waxy mess up there though, it'd send me crazy. :p

Wow!I love that blue and brown bedroom. Very similar to my bedroom.

I expect because they were waiting for you ;) I felt the same way about the vintage bookcase I bought this weekend. The dealer said tons of people had asked about it, and two asked after I bought it and the pricetag was removed ... the price wasn't bad at all, it was even on sale ... but it was meant to come home with me

^ absolutely....i believe in that too

if anyone is interested, here are the two similar pieces upstairs. :p
my bad pictures....nowhere near as pretty as the professional ones!.

adorefaith that picture of the bedroom you gave us has give so much inspiration. Absolutly stunning, I want a home like that

I moved into my new apt last week and need some help picking out furniture! This is part of my setup right now, although the room will be painted and of course there will be stuff on the walls. I have flowers on the little prismatic table now. I painted the console table two shades of purple, there is some coral and stacked books by the vase and a large painting with an ornate frame behind it. The breakfast bar has a cellula lamp and some bar stools that are in the mail, and a new lighting fixture in the kitchen. That was taken the day after I moved in so it's pretty bare, I wanted to take a new pic but I seemed to have misplaced my camera charger. Next to the sofa there is a little desk that will be replaced by a crendenza, and on the wall opposite I have my TV hung up over the fire place and a side table with a large vase.

My next purchases are going to be an arm chair and coffee table but Im not really sure what to get. I was thinking possibly the b&b italia up5 chair but I'm not sure if it would match. I could also move my womb chair from the den to the living room if that would look better, or get something else entirely. As for the coffee table I like two from hudson furniture but again not sure which would look better if either.

This is the up5 chair I was considering except I would get it in all BLACK... It's the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in.

This is the womb chair, I'm waiting for leather samples before I figure out what color it's going to be.

This coffee table I would get in a much smaller size and maybe in a lighter wood or one that is almost black

Another option I was considering is a chunk of petrified wood with a slab of square or rectangular glass over it. These are surprisingly large in person..

I would love some feedback, even if it's just to say my choices are terrible! :p
