Oh how could I forget Haider Ackermann
Posted via Mobile Device

Louise Vuitton: It's precisely the textures and material I want, that I saw in my mind's eye. The patterns and the crispness...I might have to do something drastic to afford some of it

Chanel: It's seldom that philosophy translates to fashion without being pretentious....but this was one of those times.

Haider Ackermann: Sersiously, I haven't understood what the fuss was about until this collection - dramatic, mouth watering color combinations. It's wonderful and rather YSL.

Jil Sander: Yep, this one is a surprise to me. But when RS dropped the minimalist act, he too can be great. I liked the patterns too.

Lanvin: It's perfect. The designs are just wonderful.

Balenciaga: There were some takes on their past and some hybrid patterns that were wonderful. I think it might grow on me.

My TOP faves were:

1. Givenchy - He turns ready-to-wear clothes into couture clothes in the most subtle way possible! At first site, it looks very sportswear, but as your continue to look at it (also as the show progressed) you see that it's very refined and the details were exquisitely extravagant!

2. Donna Karan - Most of the time, I find tribal-inspired clothes to be gimmicky and a bit cliche, but Donna Karan's take on it was simply breathtaking! The dresses were absolutely elegant and edgy at the same time! The print on the skirts were beguiling and was positively inspiring! The presence of the bustier gave it a sexy edge. And the final pieces were TO DIE FOR!

3. Gucci - The show was postiviley the fashion manifestation of the luxurious lifestyle! And I love the fact taht the 20's reference wasn't so in-you-face (except maybe for the final flapper dresse - but those were DIVINE!!!)

4. Balmain - It still has that Decarnin look but eleganlty twisted and became more refined!

5. Lanvin - you may get bored seeing the same style from this fashion house over and over again, but it is the elegance and passion in the clothes that still excite people!

Special Mentions:
Dolce and Gabbana - fun and sexy, what more can you ask for?
Prabal Gurung - a collection where pretty and edgy collide!
Louis Vutton - in a season full of sexiness, a little bit of innocence didn't hurt!

To me, when this season was good- it was good. But when it was was bad it was really, really bad. The (positive) standouts, in no particular order...

Ralph Lauren- I'm a sucker for a nice 20's throwback, and even though the references were pretty heavy handed the beauty of the silhouettes and the fabrics made it all worthwhile for me. Red carpet gold.

Dolce and Gabbana- Sexy, fun, busy. Milan is the city for maximalists, and no one does opulence like Domenico and Stefano.

Roberto Cavalli- See Dolce and Gabbana.

Haider Ackermann- Flawless.

Alexander McQueen- ... and THIS is why Sarah Burton is doing Lee's name well. It was quintessential McQueen- the details, the

Givenchy- Ah the places Ricardo can go! I personally detested last season, so for me it was nice to see Tisci going back to what made him such a revelation for Givenchy in the first place: streamlined, simple pieces with a touch of rock and rock and roll.

Paco Rabanne- What can I say, I'm a sucker for the sexy.

my top 10 collections:

10. Peter Som (bright, beautiful and give any lady some sophistication.)

9. Theyskens' Theory (Cool, edgy yet practical and quite affordable.)

8. Balmain (It is refined and relaxed and less sl*tty. Plus the clothes actually looks a little more expensive which goes with its price point.)

7. Balenciaga (The jackets are crisp and cool and it's a mixture between future and past of the house.)

6. Phillip Lim (My favorite of NY. The collection is soft with an edge in pastel palette.)

5. Ann Demeulemeester (The ombre fabric is DIVINE!! The collection is pretty and romantic with twists on classics.)

4. Prada (It is cute, gimmicky but it's also elegant and expensive.)

3. Givenchy (Thank LORD there is no dogs here. What a great departure from last season and I always love his softer sensibility touch.)

2. Louis Vuitton (i jumped up and down watching the collection thinking, from a strong sexy woman now she's an innocent aristocrat. And I feel like he can be saying "I'm ready for Dior.")

1. Jil Sander (With a disappointing collection full of sexy and pastels, Raf gives me all with elegant touches and paisley and knee-leght. Sophisticatedly sensual.)

Honorable mentions:

Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana, Christopher Kane, Giambattista Valli, Roberto Cavalli and Marni.

So glad I'm not responsible for publishing a top 10 list  But then if I were, I'd have advertisers and the usual suspects to fill it out ;)

I haven't looked at absolutely everything yet, but to me the standouts were
  • Dries Van Noten--my 2nd favorite Dries collection ever--really outstanding. If he doesn't make all the lists (Vogue, style.com, etc.), there is no justice.
  • Yves Saint Laurent--so refreshing, love the loose silhouette, beautiful colors and textures and shoes.
  • Lanvin--even though it's far from my favorite collection of his, there's no denying it's a standout in the context of the season. And that it's innovative, even though it's not in a direction I particularly care for.
  • Bottega--some beautiful colors and pieces.
MJ at Louis Vuitton seemed to be auditioning for Chanel ... that was some statement set. I couldn't help but remember the tulle-covered tweed suits from Fall some seasons back that were just perfection.

Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Celine, Balenciaga, Christopher Kane, Jil Sander, Altuzarra, Comme Des Garcons, Haider Ackermann, Junya Watanabe, Dries Van Noten, Marni, and Prada

Is the season even over yet? I love when people create these lists, but give me some time! I am very happy this season! I'm loving several collections, some of them I love almost every part! I have been very demolished these past few seasons. I forget if it was last spring where I was like, I get nothing, I don't understand fashion anymore, I'm too old

But this season, for me, has been really strong. Really exciting so far. I can't wait to decide on my top 10.

For me, Prabal Gurung and Givenchy absolutely take the cake on this one.

Donna Karan
Marni
Jil Sander
Prada
Burberry
Yves Saint Laurent
Alexander Mcqueen
Haider Ackermann
Givenchy
Jean Paul Gaultier
Sonia Rykiel

Donna Karan and YSL are my two favourite collections. Hard to decide which one is better.
