Thank you for starting this thread, and to everyone for contributing your thoughts!

Everything was backwards for me this season and it was quite disappointing.
I'm more of a S/S person than a F/W person, so I hardly pay attention to F/W and I was majorly excited for S/S. But S/S 11 was a huge disappointment for me. Balenciaga is always my favourite and I didn't get it at all this season. I never like Prada and I actually was very excited by Prada's collection this season. I was so starved for fashion I went back to revisit F/W 10.

All of my favourite designers seemed like the same old stuff, maybe because minimalism is in it's like their normal style but way more minimalistic and boring (Versace, Gucci, Dolce & Gabanna). I really wasn't feeling it. Jil Sander and Prada really set the tone this season and I enjoyed their collections.... Miu Miu and Lanvin were utterly befuddling to me.... I'm sad that the real McQueen is gone.... I'm still searching for some S/S collections I like...

I've been following high fashion for like 7 years now and I have to say this was the WORST season ever,a lot of underwhelming shows and huge disappointments from my usual favorite designer...anyway here's my list (photo credit:style.com)
1-Pucci
00010m.jpg
00300m.jpg

Best show of the season hands down!Just add a mix of Versace,Cavalli,Gucci,Pucci and you get one of the best fashion shows I've ever seen...just epic!

2-Gianfranco Ferrè
00110m.jpg
00390m.jpg

I wanted this to be Versace.Great sexy, strong pieces but still very loyal to the Ferrè aesthetic...I love how Aquilano & Rimondi managed to make a very different collection without looking completely out of place

3-Dolce & Gabbana
00180m.jpg
00760m.jpg

Say what you want but this is definitely one of the BEST collection they've ever done. While SS10 was all about lace and FW10 was a bad attempt to renew the previous collection this new one is really well done.I loved the last embroidered lace dresses!

4-Givenchy
00180m.jpg
00350m.jpg

I'm definitely NOT a Tisci fan but I have to give credit where credit is due!The animalier prints are really striking! They're gonna be everywhere next season

5-Gucci
00070m.jpg
00310m.jpg

The color palette was really amazing.I also liked the fringe and the tassels all over...Frida is back after her catastrophic FW10 show!

As for the WORST shows I would pick Prada(bananas and sombreros?Seriously??This is not Agatha Ruiz De La Prada dear Miuccia),Louis Vuitton(TACKY and predictable!)...and yeah Versace(I cannot believe I'm saying this BUT it was the worst Versace collection ever made...sooo bad,and for the one who think I've a narrow idea about what Versace should be just look at SS08,FW05 and FW08 shows...this IS real Versace)

In no order:

A.F. Vandevorst
Pedro Lourençom
Ann Demeulemeester
Haider Ackermann
Balenciaga
Givenchy
Peter Pilotto
Todd Lynn

1. Dries Van Noten

2. Celine

3. Lanvin

4. Michael Kors

5. Miu Miu

6. Gucci

7. Salvatore Ferragamo

8. Rodarte

9. Cerruti

10. Margaret Howell

I don't know that I'd say I immensely enjoyed ten, but in no particular order, my favorites were:

Alexander McQueen
Celine
Jil Sander (I can't help it, I just like it, don't hurt me!)
Rodarte
Proenza Schouler
And I'm warming up to Miu Miu.

Edit: Gah! I totally knew I forgot something(s) - Lanvin! I loved Lanvin. And Balenciaga, can't forget Balenciaga.

Top Ten in alphabetical order

Elie Saab - similar to how I feel about Galliano's collection (strange comparison, I know) but I love how unapologetic Elie Saab is about what he makes. Additionally, while it's not always the case, a lot of times he comes up with gorgeous things.
00360m.jpg
00530m.jpg

Emilio Pucci - I hate that Gucci, Versace, Dolce, etc are moving away from 'this' girl because I feel like there's a lot of room to explore here and Pucci is showing how it's done.
00110m.jpg
00300m.jpg

Jason Wu - I've never really paid attention to him, but this collection was the most memorable of NY for me. Just to gorgeous and fresh.
00330m.jpg
00360m.jpg

John Galliano - I love how dramatic, unapologetic and nonconforming Galliano is with his own collection - none of the things that his Dior line is, strangely enough.
00170m.jpg
00240m.jpg

Maison Martin Margiela - I don't remember the days when MMM was relevant and on the forefront of the fashion world (there were those days right?) but I think this collection was the right step in that direction again.

00290m.jpg

Mary Katrantzou - not many collections anymore make you feel this... don't even know how to describe the feeling, but I love the whimsy, fantasy and joy of this collection.
00040m.jpg
00170m.jpg

Proenza Schouler - PS is one of those "critical darlings" that always gets more hype than it deserves (in my opinion) but this time the duo actually delivered.
00070m.jpg
00230m.jpg

Rick Owens - I think I'm late getting on the Rick Owens train, but I finally got 'it'. True, I think the styling and the headwear are part of why I liked the collection so much, but it's really different from most of the things out there.
00150m.jpg
00440m.jpg

Valentino - I know it's the thing to do, to hate on the duo here, but none of the hate has been warranted since their rough first couple of seasons. Just like Versace, this wasn't a typical Valentino collection, but in this case it was a good thing.
00030m.jpg
00400m.jpg

Versace - this wasn't the typical Versace collection, and usually that would be a bad thing, but somehow Donatella was able to make it work. It was chic, bold, graphic and very strong.

Calvin Klein

Peter Pilotto
Mary Katrantzou

Prada
Jil Sander
Missoni

Rochas
Celine
YSL
Haider Ackermann

All of the above started a new discussion, pointed towards a new direction, imo.

I feel like Fashion Week breezed by so fast for me I didn't really get a change to honestly look at all of the collections. In no particular order..

How RIGHT you are. The Retrospective is so lavishly presented with incredible history, yet there's ZERO BUZZ about it in the Fashion Press. ZERO.:ninja:
