Yves Saint Laurent F/W 2001.02 Paris

Weird how 20 years later I still think that pink opener is one of the most abominable things I have seen on a catwalk..

I really didn’t like his work then (and still don’t, cause I haven’t forgotten the context :zorro:).. but I have to say, some of these head-to-toe black looks with the knee-high boots and long coats are amazing now, just because things are so asexual these days that level of sensuality almost feels forbidden.. and that purple dress on Jessica Miller .. I don’t remember it being as popular in eds as the ruffled stuff at the beginning and those belts and it’s a shame cause it’s such a good look..

Thanks for this thread!!

I couldn't ever get into his YSL, but I suppose now, with a different eye, I can enjoy his time there, but mainly for pure eye-candy reasons.

The corresponding ad still remains one of my favorite images in fashion photography. (src: pinterest user kaycapz)
