Yves Saint Laurent Mens F/W 08.09 Paris

I can't pick a favourite - almost every look is one, and they are all so different too.^_^

I must say I can't believe it's Pilati because this is so much sexier and more streamlined than his other collections, especially his women's collection. This SS08 was a tad better than the past, yet he hasn't found a way to make sharp, effortless, dandy, cool tailored wear like these for the women's collection, the way YSL did Le Smoking. Come to think of it, there's sadly no equivalent designers I can think of for women, it's always society dresses, frou, boring tailored pieces (think Martin Grant) or deconstructed "intelligent" designs like the Belgiums or Japanese. I looked carefully at my closet, even Jil Sander doesn't have this same sharp sexy silhouette.

I envy you guys sometimes!:ninja:

And no, buying menswear has never worked, even skinny cuts like Dior Homme, the fit is just different. And the tailoring for coats, jackets, etc. is far more fastidious and precise for menswear than for womenswear, the materials are better too.

yes, this ensemble is my favourite too! plus the rest are very rive gauche in spirit

 I want everything. The pants are sublime, the colors are magnificent, even the velvet blazers are well done. There isn't one item in this entire collection I wouldn't wear! This is kind of minimal, but it works perfectly for me.

I nominate this for 'best of season'.

this is for sure a classic collection of YSL. it reminds to the 70ies in a very french kind of way. probably because it´s a yves saint laurant thing. i really luv the colours and the suits are very waisted. ok...thats still the skinny trend, because they guys are also quite skinny. but the pants are in a 70ies wide cut look.

Love it~!!!

After checking on boring Milano shows, can't really pick and choose what I like there. Once it hits Paris, everything changes. This YSL collection by Stefano Pilati is by far the best among all so far, I really like the tailoring, the use of colour (so rich yet so minimal), the rich or allure, the silhouette that used to be too loose for slim people would now fits, I had problem fitting into his clothes in the last 2 seasons, but I can foresee myself in any of these outfits this time round. They are very Saint Laurent indeed, something the master himself would wear in the old days. Every outfit is very well tailored, poetic, dandy, modern, Parisian and yet rather minimal, surely something that no one would dare to copy but we will them on any given catwalk within a season or two. These clothings are not as difficult as before. I love it and need to save up, cos YSL is getting more and more expensive...

dandy. yeah..it is. very dandy. it´s more made for skinny guys. so..for me. hehe;)

by the way...and off topic..where can i find the hedi slimane - life after dior thread?

J'adore:heart:

As someone else mentioned -- this collection is just so ME:shock:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fit/cut of the first few pants, with a bit of swing at the bottom.

And the cropped pants are just the RIGHT length.

There's not much to say that hasn't been said already. It is very different in form from the past collections but much more in tune with what I look for. He's managed to do it without trickery and retaining what is essentially very classique.

I LOVE all of it!!!! Stefano is magnificent with menswear. I especially love the crushed velvet blazers!!!!

If only I was filthy rich....I'd buy all of it.

LUV the wide leg pants

I can see a lot of guys who would want those updated for today 70s style suits , the skinny pants will look good on skinny rocker guys hehe, the wide leg pants have this laid back hip hop vibe , overall nice collection , I like how he put a variety of looks , but the wide leg suits are stunning and very different for the eye, I think this look will catch on very fast, as the hedi slimmane skinny new wave look is stale .

I have loved this type of wider cut pant for years and years, there's something extremely elegant about it. It's all very sharp, very chic. Love some of the different fabrics I saw in the trouser department, some of the woven ton on tone stripes and all. I do however hate the skinny cropped trousers, they seem far less exciting or new in comparison to the opening looks.

Some of the piece together give an almost too 70's feeling for my taste, but it's more the styling than the pieces themselves.

I'm in love with everything in posts #2 and #3. The perfectly cropped and tailored pants, the jackets... Just perfect.

yeah...that swing is ace...and they have the RIGHT length as i´m also a tall skinny guy and it´s often hardly to find the RIGHT pant.

the blazer looks also quite good.

it seems that YVSL will blast the other designer away in the upcoming fashion week runway action.

cheers.:)
