SomethingElse, you've done it again! Your posts are almost too beautiful; I especially love the classic flapper dress in #112. Modern fashion, no matter how "inspired" by the 1920s it may be, simply can not compare to the originals.
 
^ This is so much better than therapy, which I probably need right about now. :lol: I get on these happy hunting kicks and I just can't stop. I hope I'm not driving anyone crazy.

Wool crepe, about 1925. Afternoon dress of black wool crepe, the central insert of wool crepe sewn from neckline to hem with small red wool circles. Narrow revers also sewn with red wool circles. Low waistline marked by band of horizontal pin-tucks.

Hook and eye fastenings at centre front, hidden by circular plastic buckle in the form of two curling lizards. Long sleeves with deep band of pin-tucks at cuffs. Plain black silk under-slip, attached to central insert. Note the detail of buckle.

Silk and silk satin, about 1923-25. Tunic top with scooped neckline, the front and back of black silk, the long sleeves, wrist-ties and bottom edges of tunic of silk satin.

Front and lower section of back are both hand-embroidered in tambour stitch with Chinoiserie design in pale blue silk and gold metallic thread, now tarnished. Unlined. Probably made in China for European export. Note the detail of embroidery on lower section.

Silk crepe and rayon jersey, about 1925, Labelled Gerlaur, 33 FAUBOURG POISSONNIÈRE, Paris. Evening dress of black silk crepe with wide boat neckline and short sleeves. Separate under-slip of machine-knitted black rayon jersey with scooped neckline.

Front and back of bodice and skirt decorated with applied clear and silver glass bugle beads and tiny oval-shaped mirrors, worked in a scrolling pattern. Two V-shaped godets of black silk crepe at sides of the skirt. Detail of glass bead pattern on skirt.

Bodice and skirt almost completely covered with applied black plastic sequins and glass bugle beads. Wide, open-seamed sleeves, weighted with tassels of bugle beads.

Low waistline, decorated on left hand side with large rosette of pink and purple silk crepe and silk velvet. Detail of pattern on front of dress,

Rayon silk, about 1925-30. Evening coat of black ribbed rayon silk. Decorated around lower half, from low waistline to above hem, and around cuffs with deep band of white cotton machine embroidery. Two long ties of black rayon silk with long silk fringes at neckline. Unlined.

This coat has a matching evening dress of black rayon silk, decorated with the same white cotton machine embroidery. The dress, accession number 1967.187. 40, which is also part of the Tinne collection at National Museums Liverpool, is also on display in the exhibition. Detail of embroidery.
