I must add...I'm confused that some people (in the media) don't think Seth MacFarlane was great last night.
I really disagree. He did an excellent job of being shocking (a la Ricky Gervais) and charming at the same time.

I found parts of his opening skit really funny and/or charming (like the Star Trek stuff, and the dancing with Channing Tatum, Charlize Theron, Daniel Radcliffe, and JGL). But other "jokes" fell flat for me, like the whole song about boobs, maybe if it had been a female comedian making that joke then it would've gone over better but since it was a white male, not so much. Also, quite a few of the movies that were listed in that song, the actress's showed their cleavage in scenes of sexual assault/r*pe, it wasn't when their characters had agency over their bodies. So I think that's part of the reason why people aren't so keen on Seth's take. The one "joke" that I found particularly tasteless was when Seth said Quvenzhane Wallis would be too old for George Clooney in like 10 years. Like, how is it appropriate to sexualize a nine year old girl? That was gross. Though really, what did people/media expect from him? To be all nice and proper? That's not Seth MacFarlane at all and if they wanted that, then the Academy shouldn't have asked him to do the show. I do think Seth did a good job at times (which is shocking for me to say because I've never liked any of his previous work) but I also find aspects of the show disappointing.

I thought the host was terrible and I was in pain watching him. Juvenile humour that wasn't even funny and what's more, completely sexist, anti-semitic, self-indulgent. That boobs song was something a 10 year old boy would sing. Awful awful.

The fashion was lukewarm too. I thought Jessica Chastain and Naomi Watts looked pretty.
Sorry to be so negative, but I was so disappointed!

I thought Seth MacFarlane was no better or no worse then any other year - tedious jokes; long, boring segments & over long speeches from categories that the general public don't care for.
But I did think the boob song was in poor taste.
Barbara, Adele & Shirley provided the much needed class & talent that is timeless & enjoyable.

The conspicuous absence of Chanel should be a sign to them that they desperately need to move in a different direction with their evening wear. That only 2 or 3 starlets can pull off any of their clothes is not good. I've been saying for some time that actresses who dare to wear Chanel almost cement a place on the worst-dressed list since their clothes have become so unflattering to most figures. No one with curves can wear their clothes.
