85th Annual Academy Awards (2013) #2

Best Dressed in no specific order
Olivia Munn
Charlize Theron
Jessica Chastain
Adele

And the rest were a disappointment . I expected more from Anne but.......

The highlight of last night was easily them showing Riva instead of David O Russell when Best Director was being announced.

Two legends and a future one, wow, to be a fly at that table.

ETA--Thank Gawd, Britney finally found a decent hair extension person! I really like Anne's dress, that's about it. This year was so underwhelming.

Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner are officially my favorite couple <3

Also I loved how Hugh Jackman immediately tried to help Jennifer Lawrence when she tripped. Such a gentleman!

There's a gif somewhere of Hugh & Bradley rushing to help her

EDIT: found it

I don't think Ben was hyperly happy; I think he was hyperly pissed because he wasn't even nominated for the best director award. So he just sat there until the end to have a big speech.

I think he was hyperly happy. It reminded me of his speech when he won his first Oscar.

why is Olivia Munn at the oscars? she looks good though.

I would say that this is easily one of the weakest Oscars red carpets I've ever experienced. At least there were a few memorable looks.

My favourites:

Amanda+Seyfried+85th+Annual+Academy+Awards+9YsWXBXCPpGl.jpg

Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy - Hated the McQueen, but redeemed herself in one of my favourite Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy dresses ever.

Naomie+Harris+Red+Carpet+Arrivals+Oscars+n_syNOJz7srl.jpg
Naomie+Harris+85th+Annual+Academy+Awards+Arrivals+R-3BsLhAVT5l.jpg

Naomie Harris in Vivienne Westwood - The slit is dangerous, but she pulls it off because she isn't posing like a sl*t.

Emmanuelle+Riva+Red+Carpet+Arrivals+Oscars+GvOaH65-4kPl.jpg
Emmanuelle+Riva+Red+Carpet+Arrivals+Oscars+32-ptzYOx-Ql.jpg

Emmanuelle Riva in Lanvin - Simple and elegant. Hard to find good pictures of it, though. Definitely looked better in motion.

Jennifer+Lawrence+Red+Carpet+Arrivals+Oscars+hldSvW3oERul.jpg
Jennifer+Lawrence+85th+Annual+Academy+Awards+dp6qqE6D286l.jpg

Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior Haute Couture - I think it's a nice dress to win an Oscar in. Though part of me wishes that she had saved the BAFTAs dress for the Oscars. I really liked that.

Jessica+Chastain+Red+Carpet+Arrivals+Oscars+nO4s94TBhPql.jpg

Jessica Chastain in Armani Privé - It's one of those simple classic gowns that will probably be remembered for years to come. Kind of like Anne Hathaway's Armani Privé in 2009.

Zoe+Saldana+85th+Annual+Academy+Awards+Arrivals+ULJKMbCTXhil.jpg
Zoe+Saldana+85th+Annual+Academy+Awards+Arrivals+n32a_M2HVfZl.jpg

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille Haute Couture - Compared to the Givenchy she wore a few years back, it's underwhelming but she looked better than most.

Anne+Hathaway+Red+Carpet+Arrivals+Oscars+WSz8twBBId5l.jpg
Anne+Hathaway+85th+Annual+Academy+Awards+Arrivals+2yA1-2hVUpPl.jpg

Anne Hathaway in Prada - She's getting torn apart for this dress, but I don't...get it? I think she looks nice. Sure, the chest area is a little strange, but I think that adds a little quirk to a simple gown. I like. Only problem is that it's very creased, which is always problematic with that material.

Anne's dress just looks really cheap-- Like something in the prom section of JC Penney's.

The highlight of last night was easily them showing Riva instead of David O Russell when Best Director was being announced.

omg i was so looking forward to seeing his losing face lol. grrrrrrrrrr

I've been mulling over who I consider the best dress from last night and I think I've completed my list.

Jessica Chastain- She looked incredibly elegant. It's probably my favorite look that she wore this award season.

Quvenzhane Wallis- What a cutie pie! It's just the sort outfit that if I was her age I would've wanted to wear to the Oscars too.

Naomi Watts- Sartorially I think she was one of strongest in attendance, she took more of a risk with that interesting cutout, then a lot of the women at the Oscars.

Jennifer Lawrence- That Dior gown fit her like a glove, she looked stunning. And although she had that little mishap, it still seems like the most appropriate gown for her to win in. I also liked her VF after-party look, it was so cool.

Michelle Obama- Okay, so I know she technically wasn't at the Oscars, but still, FLOTUS looked drop-dead gorgeous!

And as for the men, Eddie Redmayne, Suraj Sharma, Aaron Tveit all looked dashing in their tuxedos. All three wore tuxedos that were cut really well and had nice details.

I keep seeing more videos of Jennifer's dress and I think she may needed to be added to my best dress list.
I really love the way the fabric moves when she walks. In pictures, it looks kind of heavy/overwhelming, but in video it's actually kind of light and very pretty.

I must add...I'm confused that some people (in the media) don't think Seth MacFarlane was great last night.
I really disagree. He did an excellent job of being shocking (a la Ricky Gervais) and charming at the same time.
