  ... from bohos to polos? i don't think so ... :D anyway, the items they sell are so generic ... their customers look very similar and their aesthetic is just not personally appealing.

You know, I know a lot of British people who used to go to US regulargly to stock up on their A&F favourites. It was kinda cool when you werr 18 :ninja: Don't ask.... I could never understand the whole A&F phenomena. I mean, come on, "elitist"??? THe clothes are kinda cheap, cheaply made, they have a store in every mall in America... EVERYONE in college wears it. How is it special? maybe my european mentality just wasn't meant to comprehend this

^ i have no idea but some people do like it ... and not everyone in college wears it .. i don't  i find it to be regional as well (only a few people in my university wear them)

all their stuff looks the same every spring, summer, fall, winter its all the same clothes every time. nothing ever changes. why would you buy basically the same shirt 700 times over? i just don't get the hype. i could get better quality clothes and with more reasonable prices elsewhere.

I KNOW! My cousin came to visit us from Paris, and she dressed like a total Abercrombie victim...She got all excited and went crazy because "we dont have this in paris" I was like, no, but you have Colette and all the shopping I could ever dream of. We should've been switched at birth.

HA that is hilarious and wierd I had French exchange students every year in highschool an they were always about going to the Gap & RL Polo shirts it always puzzled me same thing with the Korean exchange students. Its just goes to the simple fact if the stores isnt in your town you want to get something/stock up Im sure when AF hits the UK it will be hot go chav then be shammed to the preteen highschool crowd that is deserved I hope they dont go spreading that ugly americana crap throught europe I hope the Europeans have enough will power an style to make AF unsucessful there.

It's that idea of what you aren't and what you don't have is interesting. You know?

But still, Abercrombie sucks supremely.

Well, it's funny... When I was in middle school I spent couple of years in an expensive boarding school in switzerland. and everyone wore Polo Ralph Lauren. Not the expensive lines, but the one with the little pony and pony player on the chest. I have spent some time in America and I could never understand why Polo was considered a bit "elitist" and "special" cause in US is pretty standard and cheap. That was until I visited its store in Munich. The prices were 3x. Like, polo shirts that cost 20$ go for 120 euro. :ninja: WTF? But it made sense. So it's not suprising that exchange students go bananas in Ralph Lauren stores.

fun fact: Abercrombie makes NOTHING black :)

Oh my god. I just realized that. You're right. I have never heard of/seen black used as a color for A&F.

Interesting... Anyway, I think Diorling made a great remark that was going through my head also: we want what we can't have. We find it interesting, new, exotic, like a new spice or a new color that we've never seen before.

So I guess with that said, I can't judge internationals for stocking up. However, the grotesque abuse of Abercrombie's image by self-obsessed kids of America makes me want to vomit.

ugh... i don't even like the way their polos fit... the sleeves are soo tight and the body stretches out so much over an hour and becomes soo loose it's like an effing trapeze top with sphygmomanometers for sleeves.

...i DO like the velvet taping inside, however

Sad the AF is allowed on 5th. Diorling in Dior what lured you into that fashion dump? hahaha just kidding

...

The music...

And I had to see why the girls were wearing short shorts and flip flops in 40 degree weather...They must change when they get to work, right? The music was just, earsplitting, they have a great sound system though.

yess like if i wear a skirt to work now..i change in the bathroom...some girls do wear the shorts and drive home which isnt a big deal because its not like they're walking out side taking a walk..you know?

Yea, but you dont really drive home in NYC, people generally take the subway.

Took a page from the A&F book and streamed the music off their site at the office today, it was sooo earsplitting I loved it.

It used to be a rite-of-passage when us Brits first went to New York/Stateside... Its was a subtle way of saying "Look at me... I've been to the States... Woo Hoo...!" But now there's an A + F store in London we're going to have find a different way of showing off... :yuk:

That and when you're earning in £ and spending in $ the clothes there were increadibly cheap...!
