Yes, it definitely does!
Just one thing though : have them all centered and it will be perfect (you have a couple that are aligned on the left).

thank you! i changed the background color and i think it does look make for a better look.

Yes, your pictures are even better with that new beackground! But it's still hard to read the text with the letters in pale grey. You should have them in a darker colour

I've been meaning to start up my fashion blog for literally months now and I finally got around to it this summer, I haven't got many posts up yet but since I don't have many readers yet (or any readers at all haha) I'd love to just get some advice and feedback on what people think about the layout, the content etc. I didn't want it to be too serious, hence the bio and the about page but I'm nervous about whether or not the humour/sarcasm comes across okay.
I'm also worried about whether or not I have a distinct "voice", obviously that's very important in blogging and I don't want to have a boring blog with a generic Fashion Blogger tone to it.
The link is in my signature and any advice/feedback/(constructive) criticism is welcome!

I really like the general look, layout and feel. The white space is nice and clean, and you have a good balance of text to images. My only suggestion thus far would be to make the text slightly bigger (it's a bit small and cramped together which doesn't make it that easy to read), and the pictures a bit bigger if you can.

Otherwise keep it up!

Just wondering if anyone here used Worpress and has upgraded to have their own site name? I want to be able to do two things: have my own name (same name, just minus the 'wordpress' at the end) and put ads on my page (which you can't do on the standard free wordpress), but not sure the best way to start going about this. My html knowledge is fairly minimal, so still want good format templates that are easy to modify, and happy with Wordpress otherwise.

Would REALLY appreciate any advice or experience others might be able to share on this! Thanks in advance

I'm not sure about the right sidebar... I used to love my separators as pictures but now...do they stand out? Or are they just boring? I think they're a tad too big, to say the least...

And what about my blog archive? Should it go below the posts? Or is it good where it is?

Oh, and should I put less posts per page? I used to think people didn't like to always be clicking "Older posts" but maybe scrolling is boring too?

Honey, I don't know for sure, but I think most of the external sites with music applications would work in the html/java script widget if you add the link!

hey! just to offer my personal opinion: i really like your blog. i think that the use of pictures is really nice, and a good change from all the blank blogs that are sometimes seen, however, i would change the sidebar from pictures to perhaps words, or maybe just smaller pictures where there is less going on. it seems a bit busy and distracts from the actual posts that i'm sure you spend so much time on! personally i like being able to scroll and not having to click to find more posts. usually i scroll to the bottom of a blog looking at all the posts and won't bother clicking to see more unless i'm really intrigued, although thats probably just me being lazy. although having a lot to look at on the page is great, i think you have just a bit too much going on with the great posts (which i wouldn't change) plus the "posts you might like", "reactions", and the images on the sidebar. i'd change something there.

just my personal opinion! hope that helps! i really like your blog and i'll definitely be back!

Mariel, your blog looks great so far! My only suggestions would be these: 1) perhaps consider re-working your header image. The pink writing on the black background looks a bit 'cheap' compared to the rest of your blog, which is predominantly white; 2) Are you able to make the images larger?

Yes the header has been changed a few times, will try to re-work the colors...no clue if I can make the images larger but will try!

I started blogging a couple of weeks ago and I have to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. I read all the 60+ pages and there is a lot of helpful information in there on layout, content, etc.

helen-rox, your choice of images is good as well as the general layout. Plain isn't bad in your case because it makes the reading easier and the pictures stand out more.
As a reader, I think you should personalize your blog more though. People are drawn to blogs in which the authors really express who they are, even when they talk about something generic, because that creates some sort of relationship between the reader and the blogger and sets the website apart from others. Why don't you tell more about yourself? When you talk about shoes, why not talk about your favorite pair, the ones you dream of buying, etc? Hope that helps!
