After Anna : Who Should Be The Next Editor In Chief of Vogue?

A select group of tFS'ers should be editor in chief over at Vogue US...one model cover after another and more variety in editorial models. Praise!!
yeah I agree, I propose myself in the group ahaha :D:D:D but maybe André, Tonne, Meredith (hum...) Sally??? yeah it's sad that my first choice is Grace but she's also getting older (gosh do you guys also think when she'll leave the magazine too... oh goooosh!) I don't know but it will be a dramatic event the day Anna will leave the throne

After reading a recent reply in the Vogue thread I'm wondering what people on TFS think now, fifteen years later. Will I be crucified if I think that Sara Moonves should be a candidate for the top job after Anna...

I think it's either going to be between Chioma Nnandi and Edward Enninful now.

She will be 76 in November (same birthday with Gemma Ward haha). We might witness history any time. I don't think she can still do in 85.

My bet is Virginia Smith.

Call me crazy but Nina Garcia…
At this point, I don’t think Anna’s replacement is at CN. And tbh, ELLE US is probably the most consistent magazine, with a clear defined POV (that also increased it fashion content over the years).
Years ago, I would have said Edward but it seems like his branding didn’t worked. He experienced a great deal of media coverage but essentially his Vogue didn’t survived the restructuration and his book flopped so people didn’t connect with his story.

I expect CN to go steal Nina Garcia. And it won’t be difficult. She has public recognition, she is known and from what I have heard appreciated by the big names of US fashion, a generation of French editors also know her because she worked with the Gilles Bensimon and all the people of the nature. Her magazine is already a mix of mainstream and HF…. And, she is a woman of color. It’s almost cynical but to speak to the world as an American, it will count.

I expect Anna to bow down in 2028 from Vogue and concentrate on the Met Gala + maybe seat on the board of LVMH or Prada.

Edward and Chioma can totally deliver a convincing magazine but I don’t think they have what it takes to become EIC of Vogue with everything that comes with it.

Chioma has ruined British Vogue with what little she is able to do with the magazine outside of its plethora of reprints. They had better not give her US Vogue.

Having said that, I don’t think that when Anna steps down from Vogue she’ll leave CN entirely - so maybe she’ll push for her. I can see Anna in some made-up chief advisory role that she’ll keep until she passes, so she will almost definitely have a hand in who succeeds her… and probably keep a watchful eye on them the entire time.

I think it’ll be Amy Astley.

And, if Anna isn’t involved, I wouldn’t count out Edward just yet. I feel like he is just biding his time.

Virginia Smith and Nina Garcia seem the most logical for various reasons.

Sara Moonves does a great job connecting celebrities and fashion. She has a more creative POV than Anna so her Vogue may be interested.

No matter who I am excited for the post Wintour.

If anyone is going to succeed Anna, it will definitely be Anna’s choice. Anna is on the position from 1988, so full 36 years. She is 76, so I think she will stay for 4 more years to round it up to be 40 years at the helm of Vogue when she turns 80. Somebody that Anna chooses will be younger. My bet is CLAIRE THOMSON-JONVILLE for sure. She will bring new energy to Vogue US. Don’t forget that Anna put her in Vogue France. On her appointment Anna Wintour said "Claire brings a depth of experience as a stylist, fashion editor and journalist, and she has an incredibly exciting vision for Vogue France. Maintaining its French character is of paramount importance to her, as is the discovery of new talent in fashion, wellness, beauty, arts, and culture. She is already off to a wonderful start and I am excited to see the title reflect her sensibility and point of view.”

I think it’ll be Amy Astley.
Not a bad idea. I’ve always seen her being the CD of Tiffany for some reason because she is the ultimate lifestyle woman and Tiffany has that ultimate all American luxury lifestyle thing for me.

However, she did a fantastic job with AD. She made the magazine relevant, she also developed their social media content to an all time high. She knows how to sell an aspirational lifestyle to the mass too.

However, I have always felt that doing AD was a revenge for her after Teen Vogue and that there, she had finally made a name for herself beyond being Mini-Anna as people used to call her back in the day.

I don’t know how if she is ready to left a place where she made her mark to come to another place where she will face the inevitable comparison. And she still has her bangs right?

PS: I can see Nina doing Vogue for a decade or 15 years before retiring. I think the very long eras a la Anna will be a thing of the past.

I think you're right Lola about Virginia Smith she could be a possible contender or if they want to go fake woke they'll place Samira Nasr there but Anna doesn't seem to like her nor her work.
