Beyond the product, I think the change is actually too drastic. This is not the kind of Stefano to Hedi kind of change where there’s still a familiarity.
I think there was a purity or at least a clarity in the presentation at Valentino that is lost now. The styling is just too messy.
Because yes, Pierpaolo’s clothes sold well. Alessandro is copying the archives but are the clients really able to distance the aesthetic to the clothes. Valentino has always been kind of sexy grown up and traditional.
