Alexander McQueen F/W 09.10 Paris

His recent prints I find lean a lot towards Basso & Brooke's older collections, particularly last season's symmetrical crystal prints.....

I'm not sure if Gareth has it in him to ever make something desirable and wearable. He seems better suited as an artist or director, but not so much fashion designer.

I think this looks good, but I'm not sure. I love the concepts and the set but I really hate houndstooth printed on fabrics that are not tweed.

The snake gown is gorgeous though... His prints are really something nowadays.

I love the last dress with checkers in post #179....it looks so much like an unusually successful photoshop doodle, and yet it has that 40s French maid cum dominatrix vibe to it.

the term 'wearable' is often mis-used.....everything that you see on the catwalk is 'wearable' as you are seeing it worn by a person - which is the definition ultimately.....Is it commercial? no.

Couture isn't called Ready to Wear even though the models still are wearing the clothes. I really don't think it matters.......it is kinda just picking hairs, everyone knows what I meant.

And I think this CLEARLY puts an end to all those silly Gareth Pugh comparisons.

you're absolutely right! this is MASTERPIECE of fashion, of style, of storyteller!! BRAVO ! STUNNING! ... GP will need more 20 years eating Cheerios in his breakfast to attempt in achieve something of equal beauty.

As you said compare both is silly.

i wish more designers had gone DARK for the season... i guess not all of them know how to do that like mcqueen!
the shapes are ravishing, the use of patterns is very clever. i like how he used them with the volumes
i cant wait to see this in editorials!! (i'd rather not see it on the streets... i think i'd faint or maybe cry (both in good ways))

I know we all hate to see it come to an end, but these are the last 5!

OMG!!!! the last dress is amazing..just wait till that gets in Italian Vogue
i love that red and black fur coat as well
this is just a 10 for me

This is just beyond incredible, it really is.
To have been at this show must have been amazing!

OMG that black trashbag mermaid gown :heart:

Seeing the whole thing I definitely like it. It's got bits and pieces of McQueen throughout the years, but taken somewhere else entirely. There's a bit of his F/W 97 couture collection at Givenchy, some of his S/S 00 and F/W 01 collections for his own label, definitely a huge dose of Leigh Bowery, some harlequins in there. It's a wonderfully demented mix.

At the very least it's certainly the most exciting collection of the week.
