Alexander McQueen S/S 11 Paris

I think this collection makes Sarah Burton the best fashion successor in fashion history.

Yes and in fact, it's really as though she is just a slightly more feminine continuation, rather than an actual successor, IMHO.

Stunning collection (as was the last, of course).

There should be no worries for the house, or Lee's legacy, here.

No wonder he said he wanted Alexander McQueen to carry on after he was gone.

I'm simply saying that I'm scared that it's a woman designer who does costume drama.

I'm sorry, I really didn't want to get involved this time, but you've made this point three times, now.

I understand your point about real women buying real clothes (although, please bear in mind that these clothes will serve to drive the sales of similarly patterned/adorned 'real' clothes and accessories, like t-shirts, capes, shawls, scarves, bags and jewellery), but why on earth should it matter if it's a woman producing (what you describe as) costume drama, rather than a man?

Do you really think we're all so sexist against our own gender, that what we would accept from a man, we wouldn't accept from another woman?

Sorry, I'm just a bit confused...

I think Sarah should have worn something more dramatic than a white blouse and jeans during her exit down the runway

I don't know, actually, I kind of like it that she did, in a way?

Shows that she spends her time really concentrating on her work (which I think is eminently apparent from the result!), rather than on her personal appearance.

Not that I would have minded if she'd appeared in something a bit more dramatic either, though, of course! :D

I loved it!

I knew it was going to be good but I thought it was going to be more boutique friendly and it really pleased me to see dramatic and crafted couture like dresses, while watching the show I felt almost as if Alexander never left and to be honest one of the things it bothered me the most when he passed was the thought of never been able to see something remotedly McQueen again (selfish maybe, I know), in both the resort line and now ready to wear Sarah has kept the DNA of Alexander´s style, she´s my new heroine!!

I am just WOW. So beautiful!! When i got home i didnt eat or anything, I just went to style.com and was so excited to see this collection.. i am very impressed. :buzz::D:heart:

I have been waiting for this show for over a two months now, and I am so impressed by Sarahs ability to take McQueens legacy and keep it beautiful and well... McQueen. She kept his key elements like butterflies and a little leather but still so beautifully made. She didnt need to wear something spectacular to the show.. did mcqueen? Not usually.
he was so simple which is what is a key element and tribute to Lee.

He is my favorite all time designer, and was so scared that his legacy and his drama wouldnt flow through without him. Given, it is not Lee.. but it is something beautiful that I think Lee would be very proud of. She gave it a great start and I cant wait to see more. Those dresses are amazing, and those belts.. good lord they are beautiful!!!

GO SARAH, YOU ROCKED IT!! Thank you for keeping Lee's legacy alive! :woot:

and i will admit, i got sad when i thought about how beautiful the fashion was and how it wasnt McQueens. :( She did great, but still.. the amazing Lee isnt here :(

way too literal.
i'm much interested in in which mood was the room.

the problem with going literal is that the next collection will be under-high-control (or is that a good strategy ?)
moreover there's way too much mcqueen thematics in one show.
imo, the futuristic themes and harem pants don't fit well with english-victorian-colon he did ...
i have this image of esther de jong in a HC Givenchy collection that goes on in my head when i look at different looks here. and i NEVER portray them with the latest experiments of McQueen ...

now being said.
i do understand why people can like this collection.

....

but still.
* moreover, im getting tired of autumn colors in summer collections.
that really pisses me off. only certain shades of beige and blue can be worn in summer, NOT all !

i probably have to have a second look at it.
and perhaps the prints.

oh and how many looks are there, in the show ?
it's quick, non ?

anyway, the woman proves she has the craftmanship, so I DO trust her !!

Okay I take back on what I said last night. I DIE for this collection. As I am looking thru the hq photos, I had goosebumps. Yeah it lacked spark and some pieces are definitely reminiscent of past seasons', but as what you guys said it's her first season. Let's give her a chance. And ofcourse it's still very McQueen. I can't wait to see this in editorials, I'm sure it will be magical.

lusting the shoes! omg :crush:

this is beautiful collection. it extracts from Alexander´s work most of his best creations and ideas. it´s beautiful tribute to his work and his genius. Anyway, i´m pretty curious about next collection from Sarah Burton.

those shoes are the pure piece of art!!!! so amazing, Sarah has proven herself as a wonderful designer and I'm so happy she is the one who continues Lee's work^_^

I don't know how I feel about this collection.. it looks McQueen, but I'm not blown-away. I feel like it misses this "airy" vibe of McQueen himself.

I loved some elements and disliked others..but I'll definitely be looking forward to her coming collections.
