All About Internships and Work Experience Placements

where are internships advertised...
what is the best way to FIND an intern?...

anyone have any tips or advice?...

At the university I'll be going to in september they get lots of advertisments for different intern positions/vacancies at the time of year that they sort the students 'year in industry' and put them up on a board where the fashion students can look and choose which ones they're interested in. So sending out specifications to design schools is probably the best way.

Does anyone know roughly what percentage of interns get payed whilst doing their internship? I know that generally if you're working for a major designer that they believe having their name on your cv is payment enough...but I was just wondering if anyone knew any facts...or what types of fashion internship are more likely to be paid?

im interested in possibly doing and internship. i won a design contest for dooney and bourke through teenvogue a few years ago. do you think that would be good incentive to contact them for an internship??? i really love the style of nylon magazine though.....but anything would be nice. i would love to style, illustrate or do design work...

It really depends on the company. I remember applying for an internship at anna sui ( New York) and for interning 3 days a week you get a monthly clothing allowance of $250. i think majority of internships are unpaid, but for the ones that are, at least in So Cal, it's begins at $7/per hr. :flower:

Has anyone who lives in Australia done an internship or work experience at a fashion magazine? I sent letters/emails off to nearly every magazine with a base in Australia and I got no replies :(

are there any intern jobs open for Houston? I'd really like to find something, I'm an extremely easy person to get along with. I'm fine talking or simply being quiet, I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, I enjoy hands on learning... Well I would just really get my foot in a door somewhere:flower:

Might be needing a few interns at the company I work for. It's a small licensing company that does handbags, etc.

based in NYC

I guess I'm jumping along the bandwagon here but are there ANY fashion internships available in Boston? I'm really desperate to get some experience before I start looking for a job in New York next year after graduating. I emailed some of the dept stores here but haven't heard back from any of them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What would one expect to do interning for a local magazine in Chicago (of the highest status, mind you). I will have an interview soon and I would love to know any tips on the interview and/or what to expect!

thanks!

Intern for a fashion magazine

Has anybody done an intern at a fashion magazine before? If so, what do they look for with applicants because I really want to get some work experience but have no previous fashion magazine experience. I want to intern in either New York or Sydney next summer and have been warned that it takes a year to sort out an intern so I need help quick to start applying...

I also been trying to figure out if I can do any in Houston. I LOVE learning. I really do.

has anyone seen The Hills on MTV? Its about Lauren Conrad and her experience as an intern at Teen Vogue. But I do wonder how accurate it is...and if what she gets to do on the show is what an actual intern does...

^ I will watch it on youtube...but basically if she is a slave at Teen Vogue then that is what a real life intern would do...what did she do?

I want a internship with macys of Nordstrams but my college said i have to wait but i don'y know for how long...?

Anyone know if there's ANY fashion related interships available around the North of England, preferably Manchester? I'm not bothered what....anything from advertsing/marketing to modelling agencies, it's all good.
