I already got a really awesome internship for this summer, too bad it's not fashion related though.
i hope......Jeans, definitely with a blazer to make yourself look smart, casual, but professional. This is a little early since I want an internship next year or next summer; but, what should I wear to an interview for a more alternative fashion or pop magazine like Nylon, Paper, Interview, or V magazine. Could I wear jeans or would it be better for me to go classic with like a suit.
GOOD LUCK!
There is a website I know called fashioninternships.net. It's basically a database, but you have to pay and subscribe to it...
Does anyone know if it's worth it?
Or if there's another, better place to find fashion internships?![]()

I am dying to do a fashion intership in NYC summer 08. Is it too early to start applying? Based on reading this thread I have a list of websites to search through that people here have mentioned.
Also it seems that cold calling for info is a good idea?
And in-person is the only way interviews are conducted?
I am a Visual Communication student at an art school but I'd like to work in fashion publishing eventually as something like art director/creative editor/that kind of thing. This means I should try first to get a mag internship right? Or would anything help as long as it is fashion? I do NOT need an internship for school, I just think I need it to get my foot in the fashion industry door.
Also, another question....how to find housing? A summer internship would be like 3 months right? Do they have places to live temporarily? Most leases go for longer don't they? Anyway, i just have tons of questions, sorry.
Ugh, I am just a little overwhelmed! I just don't want to do anything wrong. Do you think it would hold me back that I'm an art student and not a fashion student? I was a fash major but I transferred schools and my current school doesn't have a fash program.
I'm just afraid that some great opportunity will pass me by because I didn't know something.
Thanks if anyone has any more answers. THis thread is great. I have to read the networking one next.....
