Animals at the fashion shows

I don't think he should be beaten. But I think designers need to sometimes own up to the implications of their supposedly untamed creative process. A black girl. In shredded crocodile and chiffon. With ivory jewelry and an alligator head cap. I think the code here is clear. If you take it at a little more than surface value, it's not only the crocodile's permanent headache you begin to feel pity for.

Sorry I don't really "get-it".

I saw fashion show of local designer, where a big amount of butterflies were released..Sadly not all of them decided to fly, so models just walked over them. In the end stage was full of dead butterflies!!That was AWFUL!

^Oh that's disgusting. I bet whoever came up with that idea felt stupid.

I'm so very sad...
Those animals are innocent... And Galliano... that croc head and skin, the tusks... the butterflies...
Are just sicken me... :yuk:

Btw, I don't think the McQueen's are wolves. I think they're dogs. Siberian Huskies.
I lo:heart:e them when they're alive :crush:

I think the baby tiger was cute..

I think the dogs were cute too.. and I think those wolves must have been professional (I thought they were hybrids originally.. but maybe Mcqueen wanted authentic wolves..)... I mean I don't think they'd risk having wild wolves walking down the runway jumping off and biting anna wintour..

those galliano pics are gross.. I would hate to be a model having to walk down the runway in that..

Oh.. Target had a show.. I know its not a real fashion show.. but it was during New York Fashion week.. it was all about dog clothes.. lol.. I have mixed feelings about animals in clothes.. I think they look best in their birthday suits.. but I understand some small dogs require clothes during F/W.. lol

You can watch the video on the olympus fashion week webpage

OH! This just gives me another reason to hate Galliano :( What was he thinking?

Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting. Anti-fur, anti-cruelty. This is a disgrace. I'm not into fur but I'm also not into using live animals for any sort of entertainment. Their lives are not for human amusement, it's just ridiculous to subject them to that kind of unnatural environment.

I don't like it. Even if these animals aren't very poor. For me it's not normal.

^ no its not, and it looks silly.
Sometimes I just wonder how far people will take this nonsense...

I think it's senseless that animals can be part of fashion shows, here is something that happened in a recent fashion show in my country in which a horse was used, unfortunatelly the runway was narrow (1.5 m) and the horse couldn't turn and it fell with the model, they didn't have serious injuries but it was awful and scary

A gossip show asked the designer in charge of the decoration and stuff and he said that he thought that was an original idea.

Original  I can't imagine the designer never heard 'Bianca Jagger' or 'Studio 54'

I bet he did, however one thing is studio 54 and other a fashion show....but now that I remember...the was a (tragic) fire at a disco a couple of years ago, the event was the release of a perfume called Zoo, so there were a tiger and a lion in cages, obviously they died because no one cared of take them out of the place.

Well, not to get too art-theoretical nor too tangental in regards to this thread, but I see it as an extreme example of 'othering' and cultural fetishism; something I see Galliano as the worst offender of in contemporary fashion, and the main reason I quite simply do not like him.

Simply put, by having a model (a black woman no less, how subtle!) wearing what looks to be a tribal/caveman/neanderthal get-up, Galliano visually demonstrates historically Euro-colonialistic ideas of what an exotic/foreign culture is about(ie, the assumption that Africans live in tribes and are generally base & savage). As the model is in a dual role as both a sexually appealing woman walking down a crisp, clean runway and also a cultural signifier for a foreign culture & ethnicity, Galliano portrays this tribal lifestyle as exotic and highly appealing, all without making any concessions for the actual reality of how African tribes (if you would call them that) live.

It's all fantasy make-believe bullsh*t at the cost of another culture. What's worse in my mind, is that no one in the industry (to my knowledge) calls him on it, despite how f*cking blatant it is.

i think that the dogs on the cavalli runway could have been quite sexy in a helmut newton kind of way if the clothes wer'nt so vular (those jeans with the gold details :yuk: )

i personally dont see a problem with wearing fur its your choice and i suppose there are many many other suitable fabrics out there for designers to use but (okay this might sound stupid) but the people protesting against it - why do they ruin the clothes by tipping red paint or whatever over them the deed has already been done why ruin a coat that way at least the animal hasnt gone to a complete waste (that sounds so bad can somebosy help me word that better?) i dont mean to offend anyone + do anti fur people wear leather? like in there shoes and such? Stella McCartney is a genious for finding alternatives to leather as well as not using fur

well this thread isnt about fur so i'll stop talking about it now

Olivier Theyskens spring/summer 2002 show- these poor birds on that shoes are or were alive I think! It's not normal!!!!! He could use something other! I don't like him now- I was thinking that he's such a great designer because his clothes for Rochas are great. I was wrong...

Victim- I think you're really right. Stella is a vegetarian, she's famous, her clothes are wearing by famous stars and everybody is happy. There's a choice. And it's pretty unfair that they (some designers) use animals at f.shows- what they're thinking? That their shows will be more original? Ha! That's not true!

Tsubi had rats pouring down the side of the catwalk at their first sydney fashion week show. there was a backlash afterwards because one was squashed
