APC Jeans

I am thinking about ordering some APC jeans. They are the "tight" ones opposed to the standard. I wear a 32 and sometimes 31 in u.s. sizes, what would you suggest for A.P.C.

Ooh, they've got overdyed black ones this season... must get! Prices are climbing, eh?

bakla, the overdyed black jeans sound interesting, i'll go check em out when I'm in NY over thanksgiving break...i wasn't too impressed with the New Standard raw denim myself, as I prefer a more pure indigo/dark blue shade on my raw denims...and the metallic, almost black/silvery sheen of the APC raw jeans didn't appeal to me much. Also the denim felt very stiff, i just tried them on in the store for a few minutes but I didn't really feel like putting in the commitment that aging a pair of APCs requires. Dior raw denims are still my favorite I wear em all the time and they are actually starting to show some slight whiskers in certain areas! Still, the wear on these is nothing compared to Serge D Nimes' (poster and denim expert on superfuture) pair of APC new standards...jesus have you guys seen those? I think he wore them for 5 months before washing and the distressing on them now is comparable with some $1000 45 RPM bespoke models!

I know what you mean, Fade, but I love my APCs. They're the perfect shade of indigo and they match the navy shade used in a lot of wool jackets I have, particularly a three piece suit I won off of ebay, the jacket and vest of which I plan to wear with my jeans. I actually like the new indigo sheen, and I'm sure I'll love them when they're finally worn in. The first few weeks were uncomfortable breaking them in, but they're broken in now and are my fave jeans! It's worth the time, in my opinion. As a result of being aware of how my APCs are breaking in, I've actually gone back and started reusing some still-dark Levi's 501s I bought back in the early nineties, as they're perfect again - the non-fit and wear are just the right touch, and they're actually all mine, not some process from a factory! :flower:

So in short...if I'm a size 30 waist..I should get a size 28? but they won't close if the waist is 2 sizes down will they? Apparently the new standard is the best...sincemy cure jeans still havent arrived, i'll change my order and get those.

Arturo, I normally wear a 30 with most brands. With APC's Hipster jeans (I have a shorter torso, methinks, so the lower rise looks better on me) I got a size 27 because they fit the best (in the raw denim) and have eased up since then. But then, I got a 29 in their Cure jeans in the light blue polyurethane blend. Meanwhile, in the washed Cures I fit a 30 best. So you really need to test out the sizing based on the material. My suggestion is that you call the NY store (number is on the website) and consult them. They know their jeans pretty well and guided me through the buying and trying process.:flower:

Thx Bakla!

I just called and changed my order from the backordered tight jeans to the New Standard jeans in size 29.I'm ratherconfused though, she said that the only new pair of jeans was the 'cure' jeans or ' tight' jeans - but those have been around....and everyones talking about the new pair introduced this season as the 'new standard'...i'm not sure if i'm even making sense here...lol

The New Standard jeans are not really a slim jean. More like a regular cut, straight leg denim jean. I tried them on and they fit a bit baggier than Helmut Langs. As for waist, there's been various reports about sizing issues. For me they were pretty true to size, I'm about a 31-32 waist and the 31s fit perfect. Never tried the cure/tight jean, but I hear they're equivalent in slimness to the Dior 21 cm denims.

^Yea, I'm going to see how they turn out on me. I'll do as the salesassistant and several people on this thread suggested - try them out until you find the perfect one. Anyway, I plan on owning more than one pair of APC jeans, I might get some cure jeans as well later on.

I just got a pair of the New Standards, I compared the cut to my Dior Homme jeans and they're pretty much identical, except the inseam on the APC's are about 2.5 inches shorter. I'm usually a size 33 in most jeans and a 32 in APC fit perfectly on the waist (hopefully they won't stretch that much there), I've tried the Rescues also and they fit about 2 sizes big (I'd be a 31 in them).

Everyone says they stretch, I'd exchange them if you haven't taken off the tag already!

Btw, what size are you in Dior raw denim? (If your DH jeans are raw denim)

^I'm a size 30 in 21cm Dior raws and size 29 in APC New Standards.

The raw Diors that I ordered are size 32 - the New standards are 29, maybe I ordered a size or two up on the Diors.

I feel like a total man-sl*t

I just got my APC New Standards, size 29

They're TIGHT

I don't think I can go to school like this. I mean, I'm even embarrassed to go out like this. Has anyone else experienced this with APCs? I know people say they feel piggish, but have any of you not wanted to go out in these?

My APCS were too tight in the first few wears. You're supposed to let them mold to your body. As long as they're not too tight, then they'll 'grow' on you.

is it ok if they are skin tight on the crotch and waist?

Contrary to my waist, though, my butt is feeling extremely sexy

On the other hand, the minimal details are great, the denim quality is amazing, the overall look is wonderful . Now it's just time to order a size up or let them stretch.

Thx :flower:

That's exactly how they felt for me - the seat and waist were tight. As long as your stomach isn't blousoning terribly over the waistline, you should be fine. Just wear them around the house first, or wear a loose tee over it for the initial wears. Believe me, mine were SO damn tight, but they advised me to order the one that fit that way, and yes, they have eased up quite a bit.

My fave detail is the little APC pin on the beltloop.

arturo the first time i wore my new standard apcs i felt extremely weird wearing them out in public cuz the denim was so stiff and everything felt so constricting, but I wore them when I went to sleep and now they are absolutely perfect. I may even like them better then the Dior raws, I think apcs inseam is so right at about 35 inches or so, sometimes I think dior inseam is a bit too long.
