Asian Faces In High Fashion

i think its great, as china and asia is becoming stronger we are seeing more oriental faces hope to see more japanese, korean etc models not just chinese though!

Then there is Ujjwala. The first Indian model to ever make it internationally. You can count Yasmeen Ghauri, of which she has been compared to as the absolute first south asian model but she was Pakistani-German and has long been retired from modeling.

That's not true. There are a few other Indian Faces like Kirat Bhinder, Lakshmi Menon, and Padma Lakshmi.
THere are a lot more as well.
I guess, Yasmeen is the most influential as she almost hit supermodel status, but not exactly the trailblazer.

8 Asian girls currently on the models.com top 50, 7 Chinese

Korea has loads of very pretty and tall girls, just looking at some K-pop artists I could see quite a few I would like to see more on runways

Seems like its been quite a while since the last update. So let me revive this thread! As we all know during this amidst of FW, there have been successful emerging waves from Korean & Japanese models...

All of them have done amazing jobs so far. With Sung Hee Kim, Chiharu Okunugi (exclusive) & Yumi Lambert made surprise appearances at Prada, to Soo Joo at Emporio Armani & not too forget Ji Hye park who scored AW semi-exclusive to a notable appearance at Dolce & Gabbana! :woot: I hope they can continue their momentum & striving for the best at this upcoming PFW ^_^ Sadly there's no any new Chinese models who made an impact this season  Although i have a list of some new promising Chinese models to watch out (which i would mention it on the Chinese model's thread :p). Yeah i think this season is quite interesting to see that there are more various ethnicities apart from Chinese, dominating the runway. Oh i almost forgot mentioning Kelly Gale & Shanina Shaik who both of them are doing amazing bookings too! :D I wish there's more models coming out from South Asia ^_^

^ Yumi is only half Asian (Japanese exactly, and half Belgian), but she's my absolute favourite newcomer this season, she's so unique and exciting!

i love Ji Hye Park, too, gorgeous and elegant.

Yup i do aware of Yumi's mix heritage, i was just mentioning her since she's half Asian anyway :D She has to be the most exciting newcomer this season i must say. She's really such a standout from the crowd & nothing like any current models ^_^ Ji Hye Park is another absolute sensational stunner of my fav. I love how elegantly poised & regal she is on the runway. She's just amazing :D:heart:

I thought I bump this thread up this season because I've notice a bit of influx of Asian models this season.

Dylan Xue: Dylan seems to have the best backing in the industry specifically speaking to the girls from East Asian decent with client approval from Brokaw/Temper/Klein, and Wang. Her bookings have been selective yet again this season and seems to following the foot steps of follow Chinese model Fei Fei.

Jiaye Wu: Jiaye appeared surprisingly @ CK this season (I speculated So Ra could be the "token" Asian at the show) and she could possibly appear someone else this season.

Jing Wen: Jing popped up in Milan in Spring 2014, I believe but didn't book any big show. In Fall 2014 where she was booked for more A-list shows i.e: Edun, Marc Jacobs, Bottega Veneta, and Sonia Rykiel. There it appears stylist Katie Grand took notice and used her consistently for the season and as well in her publication LOVE. For Spring and Fall 2015 Jing now booking have improved and choosing the selective route and appears the favorite of many.

Luping Wen: Luping was a Burberry S/S 2015 exc. and caused a splash which lead her to land excellent spots on several important spring 15 shows. But it appears for Fall, it her management & bookings has been decent but they might need to reel it back in and keep it a bit more selective but other wise it appears she the most booked Asian model this season.

So Ra Choi: So Ra landed aboard the LV cruise show last season in Milan and had an excellent S/S 15 showing. But so far for F/W 2015 So Ra has yet to appear anywhere which could be the result of a potential exclusive deal in the works. I find it hard to believe she would skip the season.

Yuan Bo Chao: Yuan the newest of the bunch, has been developing in the Asian market for some time and this season made her international debut in NY at Jill Stuart along the rest of current established faces in the industry. Yuan bookings have been consistent, now we just wait to see if the continues or suffer.

Just thought I update this thread because in reality I wish every single on of them would be sought after because each of their individual look. Hopefully even though the Fashion Week (Month) is coming to a close they all get there far share of the spotlight.

Issa Lish, mexican mom /japanese dad, was born and raised in Mexico, but her look is obviously predominantly more asian than latina. :flower:

^ Thanks! I knew I forgot one girl. Issa been consistent this season and her look alone is one of the most memorable.

And let's not forget Bhumika Arora, who's been enjoying a great season so far!

Tiana Tolstoi is half asian. She's done well with Wang, Versace, Dolce, etc.

And let's not forget Bhumika Arora, who's been enjoying a great season so far!
She's doing so well
Fausto Puglisi
Fendi
Bottega Veneta
Roberto Cavalli
Pucci
Missoni
Ferragamo
Trussardi

I hope she slays Paris! I would love to see her at Balenciaga and Givenchy!

I have two more asian favorites but unfortunately they have yet to charm any major casting directors so have ended up on smaller shows.

i)Ash Foo
Notable FW15 shows: Ash walked Diesel, Les Copains

ii)Yue Han
Notable FW15 shows:Les Copains, Just Cavalli, Phillip Lim

Hopefully Ash can nail a good show in Paris, I expecting to see her more of her after Diesel.

I've found http://asianmodelsblog.blogspot.com/ the best place to keep track of all the asian faces every season.

I wish Sui He would give us more runway, but at least she is a VS regular.

Anyways, I was on the Dolce and Gabbana site for the live stream and it was great to see Fei Fei close the show. What was even better though was finally finding the model hired for D&G's Chinese New Year collection. Her name is Ling Liu (http://forums.thefashionspot.com/f52/ling-liu-250687.html) and her face is magnificent! I wish she were taller though.

Bhumika simply stuns me every single time! Burberry has recently started launching models of Indian descent such as Neelam Gill, and Tarun Nijjer, casting them in their in their debut runway shows and campaigns. Their latest find is Victor Hansen (I believe he's at least part Indian?), who opened their last menswear show as an exclusive, and also walked this season's womenswear show.

And after years of teasing us, Tiana is finally walking all the cities!

Ash is so gorgeous at Las Copain.

Fei Fei closing D&G was awesome and so unexpected. They really hid her until the end of the show. D&G must love her, with her being one of the faces for the cosmetic brand they launched and all. Good for you Fei Fei.
