Who was the model of 2007 and who will be for 2008?

Lara Stone. I like her; she's not my favorite... but I like her and she deserves all the work she's getting.
She's working like mad and doing very well. Her editorial work is beautiful and even though I'm not a fan of her on the runway, the amount of work she gets is pretty incredible.

:flower:

I think that Natasha Poly has gone very far this year too, especially with Gucci.

One more vote for Lara as the girl of 2007, with some competition from Agyness. Note, of course, I'm voting according to performance+hype. Next year - I'm hoping for Elsa Sylvan. Also interested in how Chanel Iman and Ali evolve....and, yes, Edita, what little I've seen of her looks interesting.

i agree with most people and say that 2007 was lara, raquel, and natasha's year. i don't particularly think that just one model dominated the year. runners-up to me go to coco rocha, sasha pivovarova, and maybe anja rubik.

in terms of breakout models, 2007 was definitely kasia's year. then irina kulikova, catherine mcneill (early 2007), and meghan collison as the long shot.

2008 though could potentially be meghan's year (even though secretly i'm hoping it won't be).

I'm glad, Natasha, Raquel & Lara got a lot of job in 2007, and I think Raquel, now that she is getting a kind of icon status, she won't work a lot, runway stuff, because editorials and campaigns I think she'll continuing doing a lot ...

IMO the girls who are going to be everywhere next year are : Meghan, Tori, Maryna, Anjelika, Denisa & Kinga. I think they're gonna be the new generation's elite.

I think 2008 will still very busy for Kasia and the main league of the it models like Natasha, Rachel, Jessica, Vlada.

I would think the model for 2007 would be Catherine McNeil. She scored a 6 month contact with Mr.Testino and did campaigns for Versace, Donna Karan, Hugo Boss, etc.

I agree. To me, she is the model who really stood out this year.

I'm hoping so..
Vlada seems to be getting a lot of work and covers in very recent weeks - perhaps it's a good sign of things to come. ^_^

2008:

Vlada, - of course - , i expect her to get a lot of very high quality work :innocent:

Ali Stephens .. maybe

and i see a great season to come for Taryn Davidson.

Sasha Pivovarova!!! How can you not say her! Sasha it was Sasha , Lara & Agyness's year =D

To be honest, I think that Sasha's peak has already happened....I don't think her star can rise any further than this. For instance she is now number 2 on the mdc top 50 and I don't think she will ever be number 1...

models of 2007: Lara Stone, Catherine McNeil and Agyness Deyn.

models of 2008: Siri Tollerod, Anja Rubik ?

Hmm.. I wouldn't be too sure, she's very well positioned right now but hasn't let people entirely assimilate her presence in fashion, that's why her longevity and a better ranking aren't quite clear yet.. I think it only takes for someone with her amount of achievements to go on your typical models hiatus for a few seasons to get to the "most-coveted" position as well.. she's still having the availability of a newcomer, which is nice.. but she needs to go slightly 'elitist' for a while in order to get even higher than right now, IMO. -_-

i know this sounds crazy, but i would like to see some male models really hit it big. i mean really big. Male Models, IMO, are just seeming more & more like "props" & not actually commodities in the biz. I'd like to see some top male models on Men's Vogue, L'officiel Homme, y'know? Maybe Danny Beachump or Mathias L. would be great candidates. Sone SINGLE covers for them, not covers where they fade in with 2 or 3 other ppl on the cover with them.

Hmm. . i know it will be a LONG time before that happens, if it was to ever happen. But, i'm just saying. Guys should be able to score BIG & really BIG too, just like the girls.

I agree with everything you just said! It's a shame that the only regular cover belonging to guys is on Male Model Madness. The guys do such fabulous eds, but they're rarely on covers.

Mathias and Danny already are really well known already. Same with Evandro. I want to see some of the lesser known but just as high caliber guys get more recognition. Like Marcus H.:shifty:
