Asian Faces In High Fashion

How do people feel about MDC and their ranking?

Either way, good news is that 10 of our Chinese models are in the system. This is good news actually. May industry folks take note and seek them, book them and befriend them.:magic:

Won't spoil the rest for us, but best news is that Ms. Sun has moved to Industry Icons. How do we feel about that?

Note:

This was based off from personal memory and researching.
So some info may be inaccurate/unreliable if you happen to recall the correct dates and ranks of the aforementioned,
especially for girls like Devon and Ai.
Lastly not all Asian models ranked or if they were, accessibility was an issue.
:flower:

^ Whether MDC rankings is credible or not, is another story altogether.

To make it fresh think they need to use more recent pictures of models' work if and whenever they do another update that season. Think they now update it biannually.

Suggestion is to update some of those profile pictures, especially the Money Girls list. For instance, Ming's Kenzo fragrance should be used instead; Soojoo's L'Oreal ads should represent her placement; Liu Wen and Estee Lauder. You get the idea.

As for Tianyi they should use one of the many commercial jobs she did this past season to validate her position. And not sure whether Shu Pei is still contracted with Maybelline...

Not really a big deal but to best represent the current time, they should put more effort to represent the models' work and their image, and those rankings. Yes?

Just trying to help them.

If it's indeed true. VC Oct. should be multi-girls. Yuan, Luping and maybe Gia are among five(?) models that are speculated...

If so, hopefully it comes out right before fashion week. May that assist their presence and process into the shows. :magic:

The truth is it was suppose to be 5. The two main ones (Jing and Dylan) they wanted had to cancel because of the computer glitch issue that affected all the US Consulates this summer.

^ Thanks for the confirmation! Indeed, read that something happened to both girls. Sucks that visa issues(?) can be a roadblock to wonderful things.

Darn that they couldn't make it for the cover shoot. Missed opportunity. Hopefully Angelica still consider them for future covers. :magic:

Okay, so this will be the first attempt to say something in regards to male models in fashion, here.

With the lack, absence and/or invisibility of the Asian man in fashion (as it appears),
thought it was time to dedicate a post to the only Asian man lauded as a 'top model' by Details
of their current September issue.

Nothing surprising here for the lack of inclusion.
There are few names that would be great additions, in terms of Asian male models.
But you know what, it's cool and not really gonna make a big deal.
Just glad that they considered at least one Asian.
However, this isn't something to settle for nor is the best representation...

Either way, good job for Daisuke for a mainstream US cover.
Congratulations!

NOTE:

What's said above isn't new info. Sure everyone knows this by now.

Of course, there are many more names that aren't mentioned.
Have no updates on their whereabouts. So they may walk this season elsewhere.
Also, not too familiar with the many new faces. Most likely they're new.
And the categorization isn't literal but it's reasonable and for ease.

Ending on that note, enjoy the ride! :flower:

^ Believe all agencies has released their showcards? There might be missing names...

Also, hopefully TheoG doesn't mind me sharing this, but here's also a list of new faces who aren't on the radar yet (that might unexpectedly show up somewhere).

1. Angie Ng "Li" (IMG London) - London?
2. Emelie Fredengren (IMG Models) - Paris?
3. Thi Thuy Tran (Women Milan) - Milan?

Actually there were a lot more names but turns out that several on the original list are already embarking on their first international debut in NY, officially. (Know TheoG is very excited for those new faces.)

Not an expert nor follow patterns for newcomers, but the rest on the original list may not appear as they don't have representation in Europe/NY? But who knows.

Those three listed above might get to walk this season.

Good luck to everyone! :magic:

Which model(s) caught your eyes or looking forward to? New, establish or doesn't matter. Share?!

So excited for the new season! Already seen a few familiar faces today at BCBG ( Bhumika & Issa) and Creatures of the Wind (Dylan, Luping, Jing, and Marga) all made appearances today which is thrilling!

As always I'm eager to see which faces surface and make an impact such as Yuan last season when she debuted at Jill Stuart, the gif Prymasquous posted explains it all. I can't really express specifically one girl who I want to see the most but in general out of the newer faces that might debut this season is Julee Huang. And all the other faces that are expected to surface later on this *month. :woot:

And once again were going to be absent of Sora in NY because of visa issues which is unfortunate.

There's quite a bit I want to say actually.

Of the new faces Ling Liu, Kailey and Meghan intrigued me based off from their showcards alone. Excited to see where they may show even though I don't think they'll make any big statements, I think.

But yeah, Hyunji and Julee seems they've the potential to be the 'new face to watch' with the agency behind them. Personally think Anita, Chen Xi (which is always refreshing to see someone a bit androgynous/model with short hair come along the way), Yerim, Jisu and Vivienne (who has tattoos, interesting) are nice too. And see whether how Gia will do with a VI under her belt...

Would like to see Ash and Yue Han making their way up. They both got something.

Also interested to see Pooja and Marga making some more wave with their buzz this past resort showcase.

And of course highly anticipating what Estelle will score knowing she had a pristine booking back in Paris FW15/Resort SS16, overall. Think she'll be one of the girls to watch in terms of bluechip shows/exclusivity. That's just a hunch.

And as always still thrilling to watch the establish faces and veterans all walking whatever they could get.

For some reason, personally have some expectation for Yuan, Dylan, Luping, Jing, Bhumika, Tiana and Fei Fei... given their print work these past months (and status progression).

Heard that Lina Zhang is making a runway comeback despite no showcard. If true, excited to see her back. Preferably in Europe.

Disappointed that Xiao Xing is sitting out. Hopefully Liu, Ming, Tianyi and Sui He walks somewhere. :magic:

And the stealthy Cong He will surly pop up somewhere... well, she has to.

Happy that Dylan was able to open a show. Good! We need more openers.

And oh yeah! Forgot to put this out there, but it'll be interesting to see someone as an EXCLUSIVE. No? Yeah?! :woot::magic:

^ Yes, pretty awesome! And boy was I dead wrong, Kailey made head turns.
What's next?

To me, there's a small resemblance of Ai in her...
She's different from the rest. Mature, confident and this sexiness and 'danger' that is refreshing.

Congrats to her. :flower:

It wouldn't be Givenchy if there weren't star power. Liu, Fei Fei and the incomparable Lakshmi was there.

Yay to our Asians veterans!

More to come. :magic:

Somehow Wang Xinyu from NEXT was left out. Sorry. She walked already.

+ apparently there are more faces that are walking that didn't have a showcard. For real.

Halfway through NY already and for the curious, Yuan and Fernanda has not shown up yet... and Estelle walked yesterday.

Would like Ling Liu to appear somewhere... hopefully at a bigger show. :magic:

It's a little here and there for our girls but seems like Issa and Pooja are doing pretty well across of bigger names. Meanwhile the established are all holding their own ground. Pretty good in terms of evenly distribution to all.

Glad that Sunghee and Jihye were still able to get some of those slots that would've given to newer faces. Again, the fairness.

Yikes! It seems Asians/Chinese aren't that 'in' this season?

There are several shows (of bigger names) that aren't employing Asians as much - making two or one their quota this season. Not gonna assume much behind the lack of utilising Asians. Guess there must be reasons (or is that typical for S/S?).

Apparently some of the established girls are walking less, losing 4-6 shows, so far. Then again some exchanged/upgraded some for quality. Despite some nonparticipants it still seems there's a struggle here and there. Will look at the bigger picture later. Anyway there were definitely some good news too.

Don't have much enthusiasm for the next couple of days. Perhaps Kors and Anna Sui will alleviate this awfully dry, monotonous and sluggish condition.
