Takeshi someone, not the old guy Kitano, the other guy, Kaneshiro or something

He is an actor/singer/model. He's part Taiwanese part Japanese. One of the better looking Asian males IMO

(he's been around for a decade or so now so if you google his name you might come up with some pretty outdated images )

I know who you're talking about. Takeshi Kaneshiro was in Chungking Express and Hero. He's eye candy. :innocent:
I just looked him up and he's really beautiful! Is he actually a model or just another model/actor/singer...? Nevermind, I'll look it up for myself. Here's a picture of him, by the way. :flower:

Actually, you may argue one's nationality to be Taiwanese (though that's only a futile silly insistence on behalf of the Taiwanese people), but there's no such thing as one's ethnicity being Taiwanese. Ethnicity-wise, both Taiwanese and the people in Mainland China are considered Chinese.

That's the most anal, technically correct way to look at it.

I don't wanna be rude, but I think "Taiwan is part of China" is very disturbing to me
I'm from Taiwan, and Taiwanese is VERY DIFFERENT from Chinese ok?
Anyway, I loooove Wu Yen Zu

THANK YOU

OT: although Taiwan is technically the Republic of China, Taiwanese people don't like to see it this way. I gather then, Orochian, that you are not Taiwanese, or you would not call their opinions a "silly insistence"...

Also, has anyone ever noticed that people of Japanese + another Asian ethnicity decent look a touch Caucasian?

That's correct, I'm not Taiwanese, but that fact has no relevance to my comment.

Taiwan as a seperate nationality isn't recognized anywhere in the world but within Taiwan itself. Unless you consider the opinions of the Taiwanese people to be more important than that of the rest of the world, the argument that Taiwanese should be considered as a seperate entity from Chinese is null.

I can see how Taiwanese people might not like that fact, but that's exactly what it is, a fact that no one can argue agaisnt. So I suggest simply dropping this line of political debate altogether, and return to the discussion of Asian male models.

So off topic, but Taiwan is disconnected from China, and I think most Taiwanese people look at it that way too. There's a long history between China-Taiwan relations, and it would be unfair for people to say they were the same. Although Taiwan has a large mainlander population, you got to remember that Taiwan was comprised of indigenes before the huge exodus of Mainlanders in the '50's.

sorry but I very strongly disagree

Taiwan is not a part of China and both Taiwanese and Chinese are very different IMO

Yes I acknowledge the fact that my ancestors may have been from Mainland China but I don't identify myself as Mainland Chinese, I am Taiwanese

I could get into a very heated political debate about this but for the sake of staying on topic, I will leave it at that.

let me clarify my point...
While it is obvious that Taiwan is not itself a seperate nation from China, it is felt by the people that it SHOULD be. I don't know a lot about Taiwan/China politics, but my guess is that there is a desire on Taiwan's part to move in that direction.

and yes, the debate should be dropped, lest i get yelled at
