Balenciaga S/S 08 Paris

I love how everyone was talking about Lindsay wearing that jacket on Ugly Betty back then . Anyways, this collection is better than anything that is going on in fashion right now. In LVMH, particularly.

Incredibly gimmicky but adorable nonetheless. The work that went into constructing these garments is just amazing. It was all about the marvelous placement of darts, those architectural shoulders and the corset-like seams. There are some hideous things, like those satin pants that look tacky and are terribly unflattering and the sleeves that look like a bath sponges. The shoes were the cherry on top, one of Pierre Hardy's best designs and without a doubt the most influential out of all of his work for Balenciaga.

I thought it was perfection even in all the weird touches that maybe don't exactly come alive on your regular customer but for the most part I agree with you. I like the way that you can see both of Christobal Balenciaga's rounded 60ies shapes but also a bit of Star Wars in the way those ensembles almost feel like Storm Trooper armor, too.

Maybe not one of the most sellable Nicolas Ghesquiere collections for it's insistance on showing full ensembles rather than styled separates but definitely one of those Balenciaga shows that really develop the more you look at it.

Was also sold in black
