Balenciaga S/S 10 Paris

disappointing....first balmain now this ....hope this doesn't become a trend....

I find neither joy nor inspiration in this collection, just ugliness. :(

It is a great collection, and Ghesquire at his best actually, if you look at hos work over the years, structured sportswear has always been his strong area........... everytime he has tried to do Flou, the draping and fits always sucked. Given the recession, it is really smart of him to do what he does best and is almost guaranteed to do well in the stores.

I really do like parts of this, there's some great detailing in there and some great pieces, but for me it lacks a lot of the beauty that I know Nicolas is more than capable of doing at the same time as these great details.

im quite deceived. it's not the usual prada effect where you see something so different from what you are used to that it takes a while to enjoy it.
this looks 2year old balenciaga to me. and, as much as I like the iconic ghesquiere trousers and some o the geometrical dresses in red, and the hoods... I think this isn't taking the brand (or fashion) anywere really.
I'm not saying it's bad, but my reaction to balneciaga had always been fantastic... this lacks substance.

I wouldn't want those shoes for free.

When the time comes they give them to you for free, then please hand them over to me. I love the shoes most out of this collection. The heel is insanely gorgeous

As for the rest of the collection, the craftsmanship is amazing, the detailing is amazing, the treatment of the fabric is amazing. But the overall look that surfaces in ths is collection - skinny, streatwear gone $$$$ - just doesn't do it for me. There is nothing particular that captures my interest or makes me go berserk. Too bad...I loved the previous collection.

i love the hoodies. but that's it really. i love nicolas but like everyone said, this is too reminiscent of his preivous collections, though great it was, its boring to see it again.

the only positive is that he's back to his sharp "futurism" from last season and all that soft drapery.. im more of a fan of his robotic like designs  oh HATE the shoes!

this doesnt even look like nicholas designed it, it looks like a collection someone designed emulating his past work. i typically love balenciaga, and i love this whole return to street but his work is usually more succint, this feels a bit messy. im not bowled over by much of this, which is unusual because i tend to immediately appreciate his collections. perhaps i need to see it in person, feel and see the details.

Uhhh, someone mentioned the Prada effect - that usually happens with me and Balenciaga shows. I think I need to keep coming back to this.
I'll note my pros and cons.
I like the way the zip goes right to the top of the hood on the first pieces and they look incredibly well made.. but I don't think I like that look...
I think the shoes are hideous.
I love the final white and sheer blouses.
I like the partially sheer dresses.
I'll be back soon.

Bleck! I can't find anything in this I like.
Even the makeup is bad, it makes the models look like they have protruding foreheads.

The dress on Iselin is my fave of the collection. I think the dresses at the end are a little lazy to be honest. The beginning looks were the worst in my opinion.
I love the shoes!

The first few looks were cool, but I could pay a lot less by buying Diesel clothing and styling myself this way........

I am not sure of the weird fluo color blocks at the end...... A few monochrome non fluo dresses were very very beautiful..... The pants look very very well cut.

But this is definitely a notch down for Guesquiere, I guess with the recession, the company is pushing for a more sale-able and wearable collection. They probably told him to tone down his creativity.

Sad. :(

My initial reaction was that of extreme excitement. Then, viewing the whole collection, I do not know what exactly to think. Don't get me wrong, I really do like what I've seen here from Ghesquiere, but I think, like Crying Diamonds, it is going to take me some time to digest and formulate a clear-headed opinion on the collection.

It's interesting, though, because normally, I love a Balenciaga collection right off the bat, but last season, and it seems like with this season as well, it takes some time to understand and appreciate the effect.

It's as awful as last season.
S/S 09 and the previous collections by Nicolas were awesome.

But this is .... no

Great Collection.... lots of $$$$ peices...but some of it feels very Tisci in one spot.
