I think all the elements work together really well. My one complaint is how...literally he is referencing the Balenciaga archives. One thing about all the detailing and ornamentation is that it is very Balenciaga, he was not shy of lace, ruffles, and other frilly accents. The rock and roll shirts have these flower appliques that Balenciaga used back in the 40's and that is a direct reference (but very well used). The geometric dresses are of course very Balenciaga. But all the frills and almost 17th century like elements are done IMO with avery Balenciaga sensibilities...beautiful, clever, and never too obvious. Some of the looks are quite challenging to wear but Balenciaga was never easy to wear either. It was something you had to take a chance with, something you had to have confidence to wear. That's what made Balenciaga so great (IMO). I think Ghesquire captured this without making it too unwearable (like in past collections were even the skinniest girls could not fit into the clothes). I'll have to let the clothes sink in and my opinion may change but these are my initial reactions.
